IMO he's a more of a 35-40 than a 30. If he gets 330-plus shots, he'll score 35 at least.
Average or not, he has one 40 goal season and that's going on four years ago.

I think Parise is comfortably about a 35 goal guy. A very good player. But not one at the top of the food chain.

Again, it's a lot of money for two very good players, but I wouldn't call either elite.

It is, but we need to make moves ourselves... We lost our top scorer due to an injury
we still need scoring and a top 4 Right D
I'd love another center who can win faceoffs, but that is just wishful thinking
We addressed depth players who can contribute

Time to get a scorer, hope it's Ryan, but we all know it is going to be Nash
then we can go from there

Weber's been 4th, 2nd and 2nd in the last three Norris votes.

That's Chelios/Bourque/Leetch/Macinnis stature. With all due respect to Suter, there is a gap between the two.

LOL

Weber is going to cost you more than that. For Weber you can for sure start with McDonough and go from there. Guy is the best d-man in the game.

Dude, its not a dramatic difference, and Suter is better Defensively. Weber has an elite shot, and more grit..that is about the only thing that seperates him.

Your getting too caught up in the Norris trophy thing, part of that is a popularity contest. Weber scores goals, he gets more attention.

Weber is a back to back Norris finalist and arguably the best defenseman in the league.

You're talking starting with McD, Kreider, Stepan, etc.

The truly elite players rarely make it to market. If they did, their deals would be in the $9m range.

You know what...make fun of the Devils all you want, but if Ryan Callahan does the same thing to us in a few seasons you will all be saying the same things about him.

Even St.Louis is a tough fit for Weber. Their three best D are righties. Pietrangelo,Shattenkirk and Polak. They could move Pietrangelo to the left. He can play the left side. They have to pay him soon. Weber will $7.5M per in a ridiculously long contract. Like Suter.

Agreed. I guess Weber would not be worth it if that was the case. I'd move McDonagh + 1st at most. Doubt Nashville will want it.

Anyways, which teams have the assets to trade for Weber?

I would move Stepan for him. Nashville knows they wouldn't get back a McD. They won't be getting a top pairing young d-man for Weber. They will get a boatload of young guys and picks, though.

Devil fans are crying tampering. It's JULY 4TH. He waiting 3 DAYS before signing it, not 3 minutes. Some people are ridiculously sour about it.

This will be the last time you can make deals like that.
He's a year younger so you could give him 14 years.

My issue is with the term. Parise's entire game is predicated on skating and digging and hard work. Unless he pulls a Pedro Martinez and reinvents himself into a different type of player, his totals will go down by the time he hits 34 or 35 with5 or 6 years left on the deal.

Richards is a methodical playmaker. I can see him be like Larionov or Oates, making tape-to-tape passes until he's 40.

no to trading for Weber, you would have to dismantle your team ... not worth it.

********. I'd only flip if he went to the Atlantic teams. If he went to his home town Sabres? That'd suck, but it's business. We don't have NEAR the level of whiny brats on our board that are on others.

Can we not worry about the Devils fans?

Some interesting signings and trade rumors flying around, I think the fan reactions are probably the least intriguing part.
