So Foligno had 1 season better than Morrow and that makes Foligno the better player? Like i said, Morrow only played 57 games last year whereas Foligno played 82. Looking at 1 years worth of stats doesn't mean much

Right, and 33 is the age that is set in stone where players just stop producing.

Give me a break

Why do we need Morrow when we have Greening for our 3rd line?

Morrow doesn't play RW. Top 2 lines usually produce goals. Ryder >> Morrow at goals. Playing physical belongs in the bottom 6.

Yet there's an entire post explaining other pertinent factors to consider. Like how they keep signing top 6 players to keep him in the bottom 6.

Playing physical is meant to happen all the time not just when the bottom 6 are playing.

Edit: you think Foligno is a top 6 forward but how can he be when he plays a physical game?

Sure, but scoring is more important on a scoring line.

The team just traded Foligno, according to some because they have no room or no money. Therefore, there's no room or money for Morrow.

No interest in Morrow, given we'd have to trade for him. If he were a UFA, I would be interested.

IMO, he's like Fisher, probably gonna cost a good draft pick or good prospect to acquire, which is too much for us given our stage of our rebuild.

33 isn't the age everybody stops producing.

But Morrow was never really a 70 pt type of guy, and he's been pretty banged up since his peak 5 years ago. He's been around .6 PPG since then.

That being said, I was looking at his advanced stat stuff and he plays some pretty tough minutes with decent, if not great, possession numbers. I'm certainly willing to turn around on him.

I'd still be cautious paying more than a decent prospect + picks for him though.

And given I'm not sold on him, I'd be fine with Zibanejad, not plus anything.

If Joe wanted more, so be it. Other teams who are closer to true contention could reach for him.

Remember when Selanne stopped producing? Remember when Alfie stopped producing? Remember when Jagr stopped producing? Remember when Whitney stopped producing. 33 is a completely arbitrary age and probably has nothing to do with hockey production. I'd say players are most productive between 25-35 years of age and their best point producing year always falls within that range.

Except Morrow wishes he was even close to being as good as they were.

Your comparing a career 2nd liner too God and some of the best players to ever play. Even when they decline there still really good.

It seems to me like a lot of Ottawa fans think that any player that isn't already playing for Ottawa isn't good enough to play for Ottawa for one reason or another.
