After both Suter and Parise didn't sign for a few days you had a feeling they were going to be a package deal.
I'm not convinced the Wild are that good even after adding both though. They were pretty darn bad last year after their initial hot (and very very lucky based on possession numbers) start.

Agreed. If Backstrom plays great, I think they top out as a borderline playoff team.
They deserve it. I hate to say it, but I'm a little glad they didn't sign together in Pittsburgh or Detroit. Both teams have already had their share of good bounces already.
I wonder where Semin and Carle end up now? Will Minny makes any trades?

Hopefully we see some more action now.
Agreed with this nonsense in the books lets see the dominos fall!
do you really believe that?
what a boatload of nonsense.
you think any 27 or 28 year old UFA is going to take that personally. please.
the number of times people on these boards have implied that now no one will sign with team X because of the treatment of a player, a player traded after signing a deal, or comments by a coach or by management.
if that were the case nobody would be playing anywhere.
Would love to see that long list of 'A' list free agents who have signed in Ottawa. There's reasons past money, place that are taken into account. Is Melnyk talking a problem? Maybe, maybe not, my OPINION is that it doesn't help anything.
Ottawa is just not that attractive of a market for most free agents. Last few guys they've signed have been old and overpaid (Gonchar, Kovalev), or want to be closer to Montreal (again Kovalev, Latendresse). The rest have been lower tiered guys who saw their best chance to get playing time on the team.
Want a big name guy, find someone who doesn't have a NTC and go get him, I'd be willing to bet that unless they're from the Ottawa area, Ottawa isn't on their trade list. My opinion.
I'm quite happy for Wild fans...they've got a great, dedicated fan base that has been subjected to some HORRIBLE hockey since it's inception. Great town and great signings for them.
