With Ryan or Nash we get
1. Alfies replacement
2. 30+ goal scorer

Our goaltending situation without Lehner would look pretty bad. He's already 3 years developed from his draft year and it's pretty clear from watching the playoffs how important goaltending is.

I don't want to risk trading Lehner, Zibanejad, another prospect, and a roster player for a 60 point winger with a 7.8 mil cap hit and I really hope Murray feels the same way.

Reality will hit soon enough. They have 2.5 in cap space this year.

Renamed the Twins and the Timberwolves to the Suter's and Parise's

When is Heatley's contract up?

That'll be 7.5 off the books once he's gone.

A whole new reason (x2) to hate the Wild

Well, who now hates the Wild even more than they did when the Devil was traded there?

I think it's mainly about location, they wanted to play together and both are from near there. Also, Suter didn't want to play in the East.

It's true their are a lot of question marks with next yr's team & I imagine some of these guys will not play up to expectations. Having said that though, some might & we will see another yr where the team is doing alright & Murray is looking to make deals since he has so many prospects & picks to deal with. Nash or Ryan would certainly be a good addition right now but what if they don't want to be here? Regin, Buter, Condra IMO will all be replaced after next season within or ecternally. Same for Gonchar, Lundin & Phillips eventually. We are into yr 2 of the rebuild, I expect next season & more so the following yr to be when the Sens start to seriously challenge in the East.

Meh. I didn't care about the Wild before this, and I still really don't. Good for them. I hope they don't win the cup.

End of 13-14.

Interesting how any CBA talks may impact them, cap could come down.

A whole new reason (x2) to be jealous of the Wild

Honestly, if this makes you hate the Wild you need to look in the damn mirror.

why? this is a rebuild afterall. question marks are ok in a rebuild. we don't NEED nash or ryan. it sure would be nice, but there is no need. thus i don't want to give up our top 3 prospects either nash or ryan.

I hate them because they employ you know who, and with these two signings, they are now among favourites for the Cup.

As long as Suter/Parise stay away from Pittsburg it's fine by me. If the Wilds cause us trouble it can only be in the Stanley Cup finals.

That's my point. I don't consider two guys wanting to play for you for personal reasons to be doing something.

I mean, congrats to the Wild, but I'm not sure how much of this is Fletcher being awesome. Not that it really matters.

Well, he could have not offered a contract to one or both of them. So he did do something.

I'd like to see the Wild do well, would be nice to see Xcel rocking for playoffs, plus Wes Walz was always stellar.

I love the Wild even more... Mikko Koivu deserves to finally have a supporting cast around him.

Nope.

#1 - We play the Wild once a season

The only exception will be the 4 game sweep in the Finals...

You can see why Melnyk didn't want in on this action now:

So both Parise and Suter each get $25 million in signing bonuses: $10 M payable now, $10 M payable July 1, 2013 and $5 M on July 1, 2014

What's interesting about the Parise and Suter contracts is that they both drop off sharply in the final years to bring the cap number down.

Quote:

The NHL has vowed to close that loophole, and warned teams that the transition rules would be harsh, but 14 teams have at least one of them.
Glad to say Ottawa is not one of those teams at least. Spezza's contract trails off a bit near the end, Alfredsson's trailed off a lot but is basically over, and Karlsson's actually gets bigger as the years go on.
