Sergio Pininfarina

Probably nobody here knows him, nor do they care, but he died today at age 85.

Some of his work:

He was a legend, and a big loss for the automotive community, especially the Italians.

I used to hate how the enzo looked, now I absolutely love. The 458 italia is one of the best looking cars around.

He was great in Crime Story, but I hated his character on Law and Order.

Son/Grandson.

I'm not a fan of Ferrari but I will admit they make some beautiful cars thanks to Mr. Pininfarina. RIP

You'd be wrong then....

The 275GTB (most models and years) is one of my favorite cars, both because of the story behind its development and its styling.

I feel in love with its looks as a young adult, but by the time I was old enough to contemplate owning one, a burnt out husk for parts was valued at $100,000. . Such is life.

I use the 275GTB for replies in such threads as "If you won the lottery" and "Dream Car". I also use it as my prime example of "can a car be art" discussion(s).

R.I.P.....

It's weird because the FR Ferrari's of today depreciate like Audi's... but those vintage ones, so fine.

Under 80k for a 12 year old 550, also designed by Pininfarina. Crazy.
