And even if he did, he would rather be remembered as the GM that reshaped the team to the cusp of greatness by getting good pieces in and having a **** load of contracts coming off the books on the yr of the deepest FA pool in resent memory, instead of the guy that gutted the team when he blew his wad on that big name.
This year is good for kadri to join and show his stuff in probabaly a 3rd scoring line winger. JVR will get his chance at minutes, and reimer can prove everyone wrong hopefully.
Worst case scenario is, we have a lot of players figured out, a good pick in a deep draft, and tonnes if cash to spend on tonnes of talent... I'll take it personally. Getting nash now won't ensure a cup anymore than without him.

I see Brent Johnson is a UFA. I would be ok with him on a 1 year deal to backup Reimer. Johnson did play well when he spelled Fleury.

I like to see Scrivens play with the Marlies for 1 more year and see if he can repeat the success he had and then could come up in challenge in the next year.

I just don't see Luongo coming here and not for what is being asked.

I say Reimer and Johnson would be ok with the system Carlyle will have in place.

Nash price is still probably too high. People probably would prefer to get Nash than Ryan so they are waiting for Nash to be moved first. Gillis is still probably playing hardball on Luongo. Those are the names that keep getting tossed around, who knows who else is actually available.

I would wager I'm right tho. BB had all those stop gap contracts end then for a reason. It'll be by far the strongest FA pool since he arrived.
That's assuming a GM plans ahead.. I would if I was one so I assume BB would know better than me.

Scrivens is better than Reimer. Say you made it to the final with reims, his glove and laterals would leave you saying sure wish we had Quick, Price, Rask...as you are being beat 3 1 every game.

I love Brent Johnson, but you and I both should want as much as the rest of the NHL wants to do with him: nothing. His career is just about over seeing as the Penguins told him he had an "injury" last season. Once they realized that Brad Theissen wasn't any better his "injury" suddenly healed.

You should be praying he doesn't sign here.

Byron Borke and Bryan Colangelo should get fired at the same time. Leafs, Raptors, Jays fans should all go start a RIOT OUTSIDE FOR HAVIN THE WORST TEAMS FOR THE LAST DECADE WHILE HAVING THE RICHEST OWNERS IN THE LEAGUES! Whos with me?

We are interested in getting a BIG Skilled First Line Center who plays with sandpapers. Ryan Getzlaf?

But scrivens all of a sudden is? Reimer is a superb positional goalie, he didn't play that bad last year, aside from the injury. If his D picked up the players they were supposed to and weren't running around his stats would be ok.

I wonder how many people actually know that:

Ben Scrivens is not exempt from waivers.

From capgeek.

The following chart shows the number of years (not including 2012-13) or games he had to play to lose his exemption and highlights in red the totals that equal or exceed them.

------------------YEARS GAMES
EXEMPT UNTIL ---2----- 60
TO DATE ----------2----- 12
