I just wanted to share something that has been nagging me all offseason... I used to teach tennis to Dean Chynoweth's daughter and she would always comment about how gruesome Travis' nose injury was. He was her favorite player and this was no typical broken nose... She would comment about how he had tubes coming out etc.
So my question is this, do you think that this reconstructive injury is going to take some edge off of his game? Make him less inclined to drop the gloves and (sorry about the pun) get his nose dirty?
That sort of of tenacity is what I think takes him from a good player to a special player and I am afraid through no fault of his own we could lose that.
Thumbs up on the last post. Hamonic is one of those guys that would have played if he could the day that injury happened. He is a gamer and a guy you always want on your team. As far as his game being off, I think coming back at the end of the season helped a lot. He should be fully healed and ready to go next season. I dont think his game changes but all players as they get older pick their spots to fight anyway.

Unless it stops him from breathing, T-Ham will be fine.
I guess the response seems to be unanimous so far, I too was actually concerned that he would get hurt again because he was so aggressive in his play after he came back. I didn't see him back down at all.. this kid is a gamer, looking forward to watching him in blue and orange for a lot of years to come (I hope).
He's a hockey player so no way, but the one thing certain about that injury was that once him and Nabby went down, all chances for playoffs went down the tube. They were a totally different team after that injury.
One of the beauties of youth is you believe you're indestructible. I miss that feeling.
beautifully stated. short and to the point. (me too, fwiw.)
i think had it happened post 33, it may've had an effect, but he's young. he'll be fine. no worries here.
Man did we get lucky drafting him at #53. He was an average size 6' 190 on draft day, grew 2" and 20 pounds.
Hammer isn't a classic #1 defenseman, but he will be the anchor of our defense for years to come unless Reinhart can edge past him with some more offense.
