I honestly cannot agree more with what this writer said, but unfortunately it's nothing more than speculation on his part. He's 100% right on all points, and was right when he said we needed to get rid of Gary.

We have the excess money. Semin would be a superstar that we could market. The goal scorer WE NEED. But there has been no mention of Semin to Florida anywhere.

I just want him to sign anywhere so I can stop with this foolish thinking.

Great article. He'd be a perfect fit. I bet he'd put up 70-80 points and you'd see a career year from whomever played with him. Assuming Tallon is interested, we will be bidding against other teams. I think us being a small market team(no media scrutiny), where he'd get all the ice time he wants, and we're certainly a team with a future that he would be a huge part of could be an attractive selling point.

Agreed. Arnott is a waste of a roster spot.

Anyone who is classified as a 3rd liner or worse shouldn't be looked at by this team. Depth is not an issue, only offense is.

Signing an old vet or anyone that can't AT LEAST produce 40 points next season (even that is low) shouldn't really be looked at. I'd rather have the kids playing if that's the case.

Does this imply that he might plan to get to free agency early? I guess i'm trying to ask if he goes to arbitration, he'll get a year for X amount then become a free agent sooner? Didn't this happen with Bouw?

It might only be so that no one can offer sheet him. The Habs did this to Price and Subban.

i wouldn't read much into this. just because he files for arbitration, doesn't mean it will get there.

players file for arbitration as a security blanket to ensure they don't have to hold out. he's guaranteed a contract come october now.

they could still easily come to an agreement before then

This team won't even pay our best offensive player.

Well we'll see. Maybe Steeger is just playing it safe. We don't know all the details yet. I can't imagine DT lowballing him that much. After all, he did bring him here.

If he goes to Pens or Wings he is n EXACTLY the same situation he was in Washington imo. And why would Devils be better? Because of Kovy?

I think Semin wants the spotlight, being the go to guy in key situations. That role is available here.. And wo doesn't want to live in Florida? With less taxes etc. Tallon said himself that its easier to get guys here after last seasons accomplishments. He will also play Washington more times a year if he goes here, kind of a revenge thing.

ok, Huby & Howden IMO will take 2 of the remaining 3 forward spots. Bjugs could take the 3rd spot and someone on here said it before it would be cool to have Bjugs, Huby & Howden play on the same line. But if he decides to go back to school I feel we need a top 6 forward.

I say sign Semin to a 1yr deal and see what he can do with us? He's the best forward still available unless we trade for someone. But adding Semin without losing anyone would be a plus. If he doesn't pan out we let him go back to UFA next year and go after a replacement. Next years UFA crop include: Iginla, Getzlaf, Perry, Zajac, Elias, Clarkson, Hartnell, Ribeiro, Burrows, Lupol, Gagne, Filppula, Roy, Morrow, Clowe, Alfredsson, Jagr, Stalberg, Purcell & Horton(lol j/k).

don't think Heatley is on the block as he was exchanging texts with both Parise and Suter before they signed. don't think he'd be shipped out just like that. Maybe we can get Setoguchi
