Temper your expectations people

Can we all please remember we finished fifteenth in the east, were not gonna have our problems fixed in a single Free agency period especially such a shallow one

In all honesty this is going to likely be the roster for 2012-2013

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole
Gallagher/Bourque-Plekanec-Gionta
Armstrong-Eller-Moen
Prust-Nokie-White
Gomez

Subban-Gorges
Emelin-Markov
Kaberle-Diaz
Bouillion-weber

Price
Budaj

and its gonna suck, but look at the contracts still left to deal with it,

Markov, Kaberle, Bouillion, Gionta and Gomez are all done in 2 years.

Literally we are waiting for the Defensive prospects of Ellis, Tinordi, and Beaulieu as well as Galchenyuk, Leblanc, and gallagher 2 years boys, 2 years, it's gonna suck and were probably gonna be bottom ten for two more years, but once its all over will be fine.

Pacioretty-Desharnais-xxxx
Gallagher-Galchenyuk-xxxx
Bourque-Eller-Leblanc
xxxx-Bournival-White

Subban-Gorges
Ellis-Emelin
Tinordi-Beaulieu

in 2015, were gonna be an awesome team, but for now were gonna get peppered, just expect it and it'll get better, bergevin just needs some time

I'd honestly rather have Gomez centring line 4 than Nokie, but that may just be the fan in me.

A line like that would make me think Gionta out for 6 months due to injury.

Gallagher or Bourque on the 2nd line is awful. Pleks will end up with 50 pts again and people will ride him all season long for not producing. He is capable of 70 pts has and has done it when he played with offensive players. FOr Bergevin to say Gallagher could play there is just silly. THat will be the smallest line in hockey again. I wont even get started on Bourque

Jar wants to come here let's pay him the 4 mill he wants. Then pay Semin to Complete a real NHL caliber top line.

Bury kabs and Gomez in Hammer Town and Habs win the Calder and Lord Stanley

There is no way Kaberle should be buried.

I agree with the poster. Right now this is not a very good team. It's that simple.

As it stands now, I don't expect much from the year coming up.

Thing is, this team would not finish where they finshed last year, even if they made no roster moves this year. They should be around the playoff bubble the way things stand

No way do we pay a guy 7 million to do nothing on line 4. Better to pay him 7 mill to be on line 2 in Hamilton in order to free up his salary to increase our cap space.

It's as good as at least 10 other teams in our Conference. Not a top-4, but not a 15th place either.

Anything can happen. If healthy, this team will be in the playoffs battle.

Great post.

This team is a work in progress. In 12 months we'll have arguably one of the deepest prospect pools in the NHL. We'll also have a ton of cap space. That's what I really like about what Bergevin has done so far. He hasn't handcuffed us with anything and hasn't tried to make a big splash ala Burke with Kessel. It's obvious our roster as-is will finish bottom 5 in the East, and that's fine.

We need to be patient.

To the OP.

You do realize that there are still some unsigned UFAs left. You do also realize that we no longer have Gauthier/Martin running this team.

I was surprised as hell that we got Prust.

Get ready for some more surprises coming our way from Bergevin. He is not a slacker and there will be trades and moves before the season begins.

I agree. 2012-2013 is somewhat a rebuilding year.
By next year at this time, we might get to see 3 of our young assets brought up to make a difference.

NHL 12 generation doesn't realize the potential of young upcoming players. Eller, Leblanc, Gallagher, Desharnais, Emelin, Subban, Pacioretty have not yet shown their full potential even Subban, Pac and DD may come up a lot stronger next year.

He's not going to rebuild this organization in one day, or even year. What he's done for the short term is address some grit issues. For whatever reason over the past few years the players in the bottom 6 have been mis-utilized. Players like Darche, Moen, Latendresse, Lappiere, Blunden etc...all had no business being in the top 6 or even thinking they could play up there. What he's done with signing Moen, Armstrong, Prust, White is identified that these 2 lines will be hard-working, blue collar players who are not afraid to get their nose dirty. By doing this he leaves some room in the bottom 6 for a couple younger players who may have designs on being top 6 (Eller, Gallagher).

Patches
Cole
DD
Plecs
Gionta

Are our top six locks

Gallagher, Bourque, Eller, Leblanc, (maybe Galchenyuk) and Gomez will be auditioning for the 6th spot.

Armstrong
Prust
White
Moen

Are our bottom 6

All of the above mentioned will fill in somewhere down here. Add Blunden, To this mix.

I'm happy to have more defined roles on this team. We're going to lose lots of games. I'm ok with that as long as our younger players have a chance to learn over the next couple years. The grittier players are insurance that our future top 6 players don't get steamrolled in the process

We haven't gone in the band aid route yet. While it means probably sucking next year, it consolidates the idea of building through the draft and trades. Bergevin confirmed he did have Parenteau in his radar tho'.
