good signing for the Yotes, though I hate them with a passion..

signing class act guys like Sullivan and Moss might change the atmosphere of crying and whining now...

Sullivan and Moss will have their injury concerns, so a bit risky in a sense, but if both are healthy, I think they are excellent adds on the cheap for a year until they finally get their situation settled one way or another...

always liked Sully since his Hawks days, glad he is still hanging around the league, he is a good guy and the game needs more of him..

Probably the best Whitney replacement available; savvy veteran. Good for the Yotes.

I'll be positively surprised if Sullivan manages to score close to 50 points again. Right now Phoenix's offense looks bad and he wont have even close to the support cast he had in Pittsburgh. But good deal for Phoenix, they need all the help they can get up front.

If Doan doesnt re-sign in Phoenix their current roster looks like this:

Boedker - Hanzal - Vrbata
Sullivan - Vermette - Korpikoski
Conner - Moss - Torres
Klinkhammer - Gordon - Bissonnette

Yandle - Michalek
Ekman-Larsson - Klesla
Morris - Schlemko
Rundblad

Good defense, but what are their options to improve on offense? They will have troubles scoring goals.

Still not over the playoff defeat, eh?

Solid signing in Sullivan, a poor man's Ray Whitney.

Letang and I guess Kennedy but he's always played the 2nd unit. Sutter's a RHer to but I'd be shocked if he ends on the top PP unit.

Barring somebody unexpected stepping up in camp, trading some of the logjam on defense may be our best option. Depending on how Gormley and Rundblad look coming into this season we could have 5 NHL ready dmen fighting for the 6th and 7th spots on our roster (Stone, Summers, Schlemko, Gormley, Rundblad). I doubt Goncharov will have improved enough to make the roster but he could be another option in what sounds like will be his make or break year with the organization. We're also still 12-13 mil or so under the cap floor I think.

How very Phoenix this signing is. Older oft-injured guys that have lots of upside. Seems to work every year, so I expect Sullivan and Moss to have great seasons.

First off, since we like to pair LHers with RHers, defense pairings will probably be more like this:

OEL - Michalek
Yandle - Morris
Klesla - Stone
Schlemko/Gormley/Rundblad/Summers

If we lose Doan, we're definitely going to be in a world of hurt. But w/ the general slim pickings of this year's FA forward class outside of Parise (whom we have zero chance of obtaining), the consensus is that we will trade some of our younger d-men not named OEL for forward help. I think Schlemko and Rundblad are probably the most likely to be used as trading chips.

A very poor man's Ray Whitney, Sully was effective on the PP and decent at ES but his numbers will suffer if Phoenix's PP is as bad as it was last year.

Very good news. If we can hang onto Doan, this offseason won't be a total catastrophe.

Phoenix could use an infusion of offense. They very well might be one of the bidders for Semin.

Yeah dude, Phoenix's off season game plans NEVER work out. That's why we are picked by every single expert to finish bottoms five every year.

Good signing by the Coyotes I guess. Price is about right and like it was said before, a very Phoenix-esque signing.

I don't expect Sullivan to put up the numbers he did last year. The talent on offense just isn't the same in Phoenix. But he should provide some scoring and should be a good leader and veteran presence. He surely won't bring what Whitney did though, unfortunately.

What in the hell are you talking about? What is "that", we should of thought about? Are you insinuating a general manager hadn't even thought of putting wings on his team? Like he just woke up today and realized Doan, Whitney, Brule and Pyatt were not on the roster and needed to be replaced?

Or maybe you're making some snide remark about drafting, I don't know. With this signing that refills two of those three wing spots left open by UFA's. No one's expecting Sullivan to come here and put up 60-70pts but hopefully he can someplace on your lineup where he can fit it. This is a lot cheaper than what I thought he would get too.

Phoenix should defenitely be interested in Syomin. Their offence isn't looking good at all as of now. Sullivan is a likeable guy, but he's no Ray Whitney on the ice anymore.

Best of luck to Sullivan in Phoenix, he's a good guy and good to see him get a raise too. I think he's in a pretty good spot and can thrive as a PP Specialist this year. He'll most definitely help ease the pain of losing Whitney in regard to the PP. He won't put up Whitney-esque numbers, but you'll see the difference he truly makes on the unit.

This is from Josh Yohe's twitter (Penguins Beat-Writer):

Me: Why is power play better this year?

Me: And Sid and Geno being healthy is huge.

I actually think he can improve the PP over Whitney. Won't put up near the ES numbers Whitney does though. The PP wasn't so hot with Whitney last season, not that it was really all his fault either. Where the Coyotes will really hurt without Whitney is in their tradition offense. Whitney was great at finding Vrbata for quick goals after a line change or a take away.
