Why aren't you making fun of other players like Sopel ? Or Campoli ? Etc.

He's gone, now it's time that YOU move on.
No one in the media cared when Sopel/Campoli/etc wasn't re-signed and I don't think they rejected a Habs offer either.

I'd like this...

Or:

If the contract extends until the players 35th birthday or beyond it still counts against the cap if they retire like the current 35+ contract signings.

I'd have to agree, I'd like to see what he could do in MTL.

Another player I'd like to see for 1 year with us would be Holmstrom. If nothing else it would allow Gionta the chance to get out from in front of the net and in a better shooting position.

The thing about Mueller guys above, isn't that really just another Eller sorta? We already have that guy/spot filled...

Mueller has no drive. I have been watching the kid since his Everett days, has a lot of talent, but will have a short career.

I would rather have Darche under contract than Scott Gomez. Darche gave his best and worked hard every shift, Gomez stopped doing that when he took off his Devils jersey. Theres an idea, would Lou take him back?

Anyone think we should give Max Iafrate at least a tryout? Big, tough defenceman, some offensive upside, went undrafted.

Just make it so any year in the contract cannot exceed 50% less than the highest paying year of the contract.

If the first year is 12 million, than no other year can pay the athlete less than 6 million.
Hey you stole my idea!

No wonder the Wild spurned Latenesse when they were the front runners for Parise and Suter. Also, Dallas signed Jagr. Now giddy Habs fans can stop daydreaming and confront reality. The best available free agent forwards appear to be Semin and AKost.

Because the media care, you need to bash him ?

... and you could be sure they would have rejected a two-way offer...

The amount of bashing Darche receives and has received on this board is ludicrous and underserved.

Hmm I'm sorry but Darche is one of many Habs players that has received and receive bashing. Him getting a lot of media attention for rejecting a 2way contract is a large part of why people find it amusing he hasn't received a contract offer yet. Did you not notice the bashing Campoli, Bourque, Kaberle, Price, Gomez, Plekanec, Desharnais, Weber, Eller, etc etc received? This is the way of the Habs fan, so to speak.

Ok. but this would have what effect exactly? The player would get money on a different schedule but why is it good? Every team lives by the same rules.

If they're not going to go after Semin the should just sign Kostitsyn. Youngish 20 goal winger to play with Plekanec is still something they could use. Out there is a guy whose scored 20 goals with Plekanec.

If you end up hating him just trade him for another 2nd round pick. Everyone loves those.

The best reason I've seen right there to retreat, forget about a FA and make room for some young players next year. I have seen the future and it doesn't include these guys.

Yup. At this point, I'm guessing Kostitsyn can be had at a bargain.

I love the poster who said in the last free agency thread that some of us assume too much and then rambled on about compliance buyouts/sending Gomez to the minors and even suggested the habs be in on Radulov lol. This fan base is too funny, accuse others of making assumptiOns then carry on with your own assumptions, one of which, isn't even possible.

Thanks for setting us straight.

I'm thinking he'll end up in Detroit or the KHL.
Just my guess.
I'd take him back on the Habs though.
