Rumor on twitter is that there is an Eastern Conference team that has offered Doan 4 years $30 mil.

If true, that GM must be insane.

There is nothing for the Hawks to consider about that deal. Wow.

I have a hard time seeing him go east, but it's more feasible if a team there does in fact throw four or more years at him. There are family considerations in the Doan camp and word is he doesn't want to uproot his family to go somewhere just for a couple of years. There's a reason he's waiting the Phoenix situation out so much; he doesn't ultimately want to leave.

Money and years have a funny persuasion factor, especially in combination with a great chance to win, but my money still says he doesn't end up anywhere out east. Been wrong before, though.

I don't see why ppl are so hesitant to give him a 4 yr deal, he will still be a solid NHLer in 4 yrs. He isnt injury prone, and hasn't declined at all really in the last few years.

I bet he's better than Jagr is right now, when Doan is 40, and ppl wanted Jagr on a 1yr deal.

I would be all for Doan on a 4yr contract if its around 3.5-4mil. Can always trade it to a team who needs to meet the cap floor. And maybe they get rid of the 35+ rule in the new CBA.

That is just ridiculous. I'm not honestly against giving him 4 years, but not for 30M. I'd do 4M/yr. max, and I'd prefer to stay at like 3.75 or so.

"Hasn't really declined at all".

1)not true
2)he's 36
3)why would you sign a 36 yr old(read:contract will count on our cap) player to a 4 year big dollar deal when you have guys that should be ready in 1-2 years
4)I don't personally think he has more than one 50pt season left in him.

If it's actually true, I highly doubt it was Tallon.

No way any team is going to pay him that.... $20M for 4 years would still be too much, imo.

But if there was some truth to it, I doubt Doan would continue to be humming and hawing about his future. Loyalty is very noble, but to be overpaid by such a huge sum, and in the twilight of your career, is too irresistable for anyone.

mock the guy all you want, but chances are, Florida makes more noise in the post season than we do this year.

PS - Florida has 21 million dollars in cap space available. He had to overspend last summer to just get to the floor.

The rumor is 100% false. Probably started by Ecklund or any other of those morons who no nothing about hockey other then it's played on ice.

Hope you're right, otherwise there's a lunatic of a GM out East and the whole thing about owners crying poor in the CBA negotiations is all the more ridiculous.

Will we get Doan’s decision today and when it does come, will that announcement have a snowball effect among the teams awaiting his decision, as they go with plan B?

As with seemingly every player in the universe this offseason, I wouldn't be surprised to see it pushed back a few more days.
