He played some great games for Ottawa last season. I'm thinking you'll be seeing him in with the big team more than you'd think.

You'd be surprised. He showed glimpses of greatness in his few games with the Sens last season.

I'm disappointed we didn't re-sign him to be honest.

These signings are primarily for Portland... According to Treliving, their working on the Pirates roster because they need to see what Doan is going to do.

2-way

$105,000 & $650,000

I'm sure they promised him that he could compete for a spot and Chipchura did that last season
IMO, good depth signing

I like this signing purely because of his name. Can't say it wouldn't look great on the back of a jersey.

I'm thinking this guy could be a Pyatt 2.0. Maybe bit more physical with less offensive touch? Ottawa fans say he didn't look out of place at all on the 4th line and he was a PPG player on a not so great Binghamton team just last season.

Hell, he might have a better offensive touch. I'll be happy if he just consistently provides jam on the fourth line without being a liability, and it sounds like he'll do just that. I definitely think the organization sees him as the Pyatt replacement.

Let's get real here - he is 25 and has 2 NHL points in 16 career games. At this point, we'd be lucky if he turned into another Chipchura, we'd be lotto lucky if he turned into a Pyatt. This guy was signed to beef up Portland and provide a competent big body when we have injuries on the big club. I'm satisfied with both roles for him.

I'm not expecting anything out of him other than hustle.

But he also put up a ppg last year in the A, and Ottawa fans say he didn't look out of place. I'd definitely be happy with him turning into a Chipchura. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he might be able to pot 10 goals in a full year.

But much more reasonable to expect he'll be lucky to play 10 NHL games in a full year.

Agreed, but think of the nickname possibilities if he did stick with the big club...Colonel Klink comes to mind.
