Not good for Carle. Not a surprise, but it's a long and high deal. He's average.

I love Doan and he would be my #1 choice by far (including Parise given that contract), but isn't everyone and their mother saying he has no interest in going east? That if he doesn't re-sign in PHX that he'll be trying to stay close to his family (i.e. LAK, ANA, DAL, COL, etc.)?

“We haven’t entered into negotiations with any other teams, but Shane wants to be forthright and honest with clubs that have contacted us, and so we’ve let these clubs know whether there is mutual interest,” Terry Bross, Doan’s agent, told The Post yesterday.

“I don’t want to be specific about what teams those are, but there are no restrictions against negotiating with teams in the East ... or the one in Manhattan.”

The Ryan trade value question is such a loaded question with regard to our franchise. If (if if if) we were interested, Anahiem's asking price would have SO MUCH to do with BB's view of his former players. For example, BB is the guy who scratched MaJo on opening night last year to send a message. Was that a "I love you kid, and you need some tough love" thing or was it "I have serious concerns about you" thing? Who knows. How much did BB really like Schultz? Does he still believe all that good stuff he always said about Green? He always loved Laich, but how much does he value him knowing all his pros and cons better than anyone? Etc, etc, etc.

The negotiations would be so weird.

One would also think that the bad blood between the Ducks and Ryan would have somewhat driven their asking price down. Since the whole neighborhood knows that neither party is particularly interested in staying with each other I would have to think that the Ducks demands have significantly dropped.

For me, yeah, but I suspect he's got a loooong leash in TB.

Ryan's value is whatever it is. All I'm saying is that, whatever the asking price is, the negoitations would be really awkward with the Caps. It could work to our favor. Wouldn't shock me at all of BB had an over-inflated value on some of his former players. But it could also work against us, as he'll know the truth being the sales pitch.

Carle's contract is expensive, but I think not quite so expensive as to be an unmovable anchor down the line. He'll help get Tampa into playoffs, and if doesn't perform there, they should be able to sell him down the river in a couple of years, IMO. Not that I wanted him on the Caps, but I don't see it as horrible for Tampa.

Still built ECF team, but he's losing his luster.

I think that leaves too much $$ on the table for Green. He's getting 6+ on a longterm deal like that. I'd take that over $7.5 per....

Man does it feel like we're back to where things were before the lockout with salaries...

I've already said I would love Doan here, but I seriously doubt he's leaving Phoenix unless he absolutely has to. It won't be a money decision; it'll be if he doesn't believe that the new ownership for the Coyotes is going to happen.

So Philly has gotten worse right? Lost Jagr + Carle, traded JVR for Schenn.

Feels good.

This seems like a trend among Eastern teams so far. Caps and Habs seem to be the only teams that are about even.

We should keep both honestly.

Doan's next 2 years should be as good as any under 35 guy realistically available, even better since he brings a lot of what he need and could have that Recchi type presence for the team that really needs it. Even at 38 he'll probably be as good as Knuble was at 38 if not better. The last 2 years, deal with that later.

Forsberg isn't going to be ready for at least a year.

They get way better if they re-sign Semin, but as long as they don't the team isn't any better.
