Yeah, that's my reaction. Short term it's amazing for the Wild, long term....it's not.

This reminds me of the 06 Bruins. #1Dman and great 1st line forward, although different positions. It took the Bruins a lot longer to become a contender, but the Wild already have Heatley, Setoguchi, Koivu, Clutterbuck, Backstrom, etc. Bruins had nowhere near that.

Even without those teams loading up, it wouldn't have happened. We needed 2 very solid goalies to get that trophy. Now that Luongo is on his way out eventually, that will be the end of our prez trophy success.

**** the haters, good for the wild. I look forward to the Canucks actually having to fight hard for a division title as opposed to drunkenly stumbling towards it.

Big signing(s). Not a fan of the Wild, but nice to see a couple of small market teams making splashes like Minny and the Oilers. I don't like the term of the contracts but I'm glad the team was able to sign some big names. Congrats.

Agreed. Thats the point of a 13-year contract, not a 1-2 short term deal.

Minnesota is a great hockey city with great fans i think it's a great day for hockey today. Contract are not good but it,s the UFa market after all.

I was hoping they would end there i' happy for you wild fans. Now just change your horrible logo and you will become my fav team in the west before Calgary.

Depends on how it is structured.

If years 9-10-11-12-13 all have super low fiscal value, it won't be.

The biggest loophole that a new CBA will hopefully close is these contracts where the player probably has some sort of wink/nod agreement to simply retire during the final worthless years of his contract to remove the cap hit...either that or the team will have no trouble trading the player to a low cap team.

Anyone think cap hits should have a moving average? Would get rid of this ridiculousness of every 27-32 year old signing until they are 40-41 years old. Would also make it so cap hits are higher in their prime and lower as they get older.

Well now that I calmed down a bit, I'm happy that they went to the Wild, and not to one of our other division rivals

Savard had zero part of that and lol comparing Suter to Chara. Boston won because they rebuilt after those signings and drafted well in the 2nd/3rd rounds.

Sour grapes. Guy gave you a ton of good years as your captain. Went home to play, nothing wrong with that. Upsetting, but don't act like he's some sort of *******.

Vancouver
LA
Detroit
Chicago
St Louis
San Jose
Nashville
Phoenix

All better than the Wild, even with Suter and Parise. Thats not factoring in Edmonton either, or the friggin Eastern Conference.

Minnesota adds Parise and Suter, wow. They're gonna be great. Need some better D though and so on. But they got alot of good prospects (both d's and fwd's).

Minny is gonna be interesting to watch the coming years.
I am sure they are - cap hit and actual salary are two very different things. Hope you guys keep butts in the seats for the next 10-13 years.

Regardless of what people think, this is the best contract Parise (and Suter) got. There really was not gimmick that Chuck Fletcher told Parise and Suter. We know there's no "come to the Wild to win cup speech". This is about the Wild showing the biggest cheque of anyone in term of dollar amount and upfront payment/guarantee probably for this year in case of lock out. That's it

Gotta say ownership has the balls to give the green light though
