Who said Brodin will make the team?

The training camp will decide if he makes it or not. I think the best for him would be playing with Brian Connelly in Houston. Both would probably be the #1 pairing.

I don't think I like Butch on the third line.

I'm fine with Pierre-Marc being on the 3rd line.

He will most definitely bring some skills.

Clayton Stoner will be with Justin Falk, Nate Prosser or Jonas Brodin), training camp, travel changes, the need to get tougher, how Matt Kassian fits on a team with Konopka, etc.
Looking forward to the training camp.

Parise-Koivu-Heatley
Coyle-Granlund-Setoguchi
Mitchell-Brodizak-Bouchard
Powe-Cullen-Clutterbuck

I wouldn't mind seeing those lines in pre-season.

I like it. Granted, I wanted Kassian in there after a possible trade but can't win 'em all, I guess. It also neatly solves the problem we faced with PMB and FBJ on the same line. And let's not forget that Clutterbuck is capable of scoring 20, even 25 goals in a season as is Brodziak. To have someone who can actually provide the puck to their sticks is nothing but a good thing.

Next year we should replace Cullen with Coyle/Zucker and we have an excellent team. Genuine competition for the spots between the AHL guys, the kids and the current NHLers is never a bad thing, either.

granlund and brodin are the two most likely of the kids to make the team. those guys make it = no surprise. anyone else makes it = surprise.

To me Bouchard does not fit the traditional third line role. He could end up complimenting Brodziak very nicely though.

I think people are being a bit too harsh to Cullen. He was bad at parts of the season but he wasn't super horrible. At best he can be very good. I'd much rather keep Cullen there than force Coyle. Ofcourse if, and only if, Coyle was better at camp, he'd get the spot. I do doubt it though.

Cullen's ability is completely capped though. There is no upside. Even on wing with Granlund and Setoguchi, he'll put in maybe 40 points, be defensively responsible, but will turn the puck over in the offensive zone 10 times a game.

People are hard on Cullen because he sucks in a top-6 roll.

If he's on the team as a bottom-6 forward, and has an appropriate cap hit? People will (justifiably) lighten up on him.

The real issue though, is that Brodziak makes a better 3rd line center than Cullen does, IMO. If Cullen fits as a winger, though, that may make the decision easier once his contract is up.

He started out hot with 8 goals in 18 games. Then 6 in the remaining 55. He was all airplane and flying high, then he was all blue frozen crap being flushed out at 35,000 feet.

There's still a chance he'd do just fine. Now there's depth so you can have Coyles and Zuckers to call up if needed. Anyway I'm more for the idea that Cullen starts as a second or a third line winger and Coyle and/or Zucker start in Houston. It'd be stupid not to give Cullen a chance when there's depth.

Hard to say. He would have to impress the coaches immensely in training camp to get a shot. Yeo has said there are no guaranteed spots on the team this year and that players will earn their way on. If he makes it so the coaches have no choice but to keep him on the team, then yep he will be. But it's a long shot.

Don't take advice from the guy with the Larsson avatar too seriously, but...

I think he'll tear up the AHL (2012-2013), and be a lock to make the Wild in 2013-2014. He'll compete hard for the Wild's 2nd line center spot. Eventually, I could see an interchangeable 2nd line of Coyle - Larsson - Phillips where everyone can take faceoffs, play defensively, and be a threat offensively.

That's not too crazy of a scenario. I kinda think that's exactly what will happen.

Sipoo's Wolf could be an appealing choice.

Our top 2 lines will be offense heavy, I'm liking the look of the lines so far.
