As for the defense, I haven't commented on yet, but I'd have to think that it would be hard to pencil in Brodin for #1 pairing right away. I like the idea of Suter-Gilbert better than that. Only pencil Brodin in if he's ready.
I that makes the most sense, except that I really liked how Scandella played at the end of last year when he was paired with Gilbert. I guess my pairings were based on the expectations that Brodin really impresses during camp/preseason.

Mitchell is a third liner.

Parise-Koivu-Heater
PMB-Granlund-Seto
Mitchell-Brodziak-Clutterbuck <- sick third
Cullen-Konopka-Kassian/Powe

I think it's better to pencil PMB out and consider him extra if he's able to play.

The more I think about it, Parise-Koivu-Bouchard over Heatley-Granlund-Setoguchi makes the most sense for the top 6. We don't want Granlund and Butch on the same line, and I think Parise compliments Koivu-Bouchard better than Heatley does.

As for defense, if Brodin's ready (and maybe he is) I definitely think Suter-Brodin should be our top pairing. As mentioned by a couple people, Scandella-Gilbert was looking like a great pairing near the end of last season, once they got familiar with each other. If Suter-Brodin can handle the 1a load, Scandella-Gilbert can certainly be 1b.

We're done. It's really close. Thankfully we can add a bit more depth on D next summer with all the extra cash we'll have. Or we may even make a trade around the deadline.

This isnt directed solely at you, but can people please stop making line projections with PMB and FBJ on the same line? It's starting to drive me nuts. doesnt make any sense to me at all.

Depending on whether Prosser or Veilleux is the one that ends up in Houston, and how much Falk ends up signing for (guessing $750k) we're between $600k-$900k in cap space left. However, that's counting Brodin, assuming no bonus cushion, and a 23 man roster. A free agent would likely replace Brodin, so we have about $2MM in space, more if they bring back the bonus cushion.

It's irrelevant though, this team is done in free agency for the year. I would be extremely surprised if we did anything on the trade front either.

Nanne said he wouldn't be surprised if the Wild are trying to move Bouchard for a defenseman.

Bouchard isn't moveable until he plays a few games in the season I would say. I know Sturm was moved, so I guess it's possible, but he didn't exactly net a return if I recall correctly.

You think Torrey Mitchell is going to beat out Matt Cullen?

That make sense, but with the uncertainty and cap hit, will be tough to move. It would be nice to parlay that into a nice defenseman.

I dont think clutterbuck is touchable to be honest. I think PMB might be in trouble if anyone.

With the lines I want to see Genoway up there on 2nd or 3rd pair of D.

No way is clutterbuck untouchable. We'll want value, but he's far from our most precious piece.

Also Genoway in houston, no way he cracks the Wild out of camp.

If Genoway makes an appearance on our team this year, we must have had some sort of pandemic strike the region.

With a dearth of available scoring options left, someone would take a chance, but we'd take in a contract.

Also, we have room for Weber next year...

We've got 6 one-way contracts on D, that's excluding Falk who's likely to get a 1-way as well. Steven Kampfer's spent the majority of his pro career in the NHL(on a good Bruins team), while Jonas Brodin is likely to challenge for a spot as well. We may have used 14 d-men last year but Cuma/Genoway/Lundin/Fredheim never dressed in the same game and Kampfer/Foster were acquired for Zanon/Zidlicky. So really we could have used 8 d-men, and right now Kampfer's our 8th(because Prosser has a 1-way), excluding Brodin. Not too concerned though it does drop off after Cuma(Bagnall/Genoway). Close to the contract limit as well right now(47/50 is it?).

I could see one on a 2-way, but that's more like a Mike Mottau/Brett Lebda-type, and they're likely hoping for 1-ways at this point.

Meh, Waivers... Not worried, Brodin could be sent down... Doubt it though...

I like our chances like this, I'm worried about injuries on D, but we can always emergency callup Dumba.
