what players need a raise? and if they need to make a trade before the deadline, then i don't know ask for a player back for the same price.

i hate the wild, but that team is set right now and they have zero cap problems now, or even one that can come up during the season.

Glad to see Minny is getting some of the big fish, they should be a much improved team(providing they don't have the injury bug again). My only issue is the length of the contract, 13 years is a very long time to locked into contracts, and not too many of them have worked out so far for the teams.

Don't forget about Cullen's 3.5 mil after this year. Cap isn't an issue. 13 years is a long contract, but it beats not having them on the roster.

Next year, Backstrom, Bouchard, Cullen off the books. $13.5m in cap space. Not worried.

And then Heatley comes off after next year.

Koivu... possibly Anaheim?

Heatley for Robidas and 4th
Setoguchi, Koivu and 4th for Holland and Ryan
Wow that's horrible lol

Jets would gladly take Setoguchi since they really need a second-line RW. Not sure how expendable he really is to Minnesota though; Besides their few big contracts they don't have tremendous depth and it's unlikely they could replace Setoguchi with a similar player for less money.

Heatley isn't untradeable IMO. His cap hit is higher than his actual salary, which while too high for his production isn't totally unreasonable, and that situation may appeal to a team looking to meet the cap floor, particularly if they get him cheap as somewhat of a cap dump.

Also $500k Barker buyout goes bye bye. The year after the $1MM Parrish buyout does too. Heatley's $7.5MM falls off that year as well.

Basically, if they Wild hadn't spent this $15MM they'd have more cap trouble in the coming years because of the floor.

squidz's post a couple pages back summed up everything about the Wild's cap situation. Really not an issue.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bouchard for Hjalmarsson type of a deal. I have no clue if Hawks need a small, injury prone puck possession 2nd line winger who happens to be quite skilled.. It's a risk, but is it worth taking? Is Hjalmarsson worth taking? I don't know. Just speculating.

What would it take from the Canucks to land Clutterbuck?

He helped convince Suter to sign here, not sure why he'd do what you're saying. Rumor has it he actually enjoys it here.

It's probably a non-starter at this point. Before the signings, we were ok with letting him go (as a part of a package) for a legit, youngish top 4 defenseman. Now? I think we just want to see what our roster is capable of this year. Personally, I can't wait to see what Mitchell - Brodziak - Clutterbuck can do next year. Brodziak took a large leap forward last year, so that line has some pretty good potential right now. We may just have to wait and see if Bulmer is capable of bringing the same things as Cal does.

only way we are trading heatley or setoguchi is if we are upgrading their position, in which case seto is 3X for likely to be traded than heatley.

The Wild are in no cap crisis. Plenty of cap space this season. Next season Backstrom's, Bouchard's, and Cullen's contracts are up. If any of them are re-sign, it will be for a reduced price. After that, Heatley's is up and it's the same deal. He'll re-sign for less or move on.

and to stay on subject about possible trades, i always thought a base trade around anaheim and minnesota involving Seto and Ryan could possibly be worked out, but not if it means we got to cut our prospect pool in half.

This thread is silly.

The Wild finally get to ice a team that is more or less a complete NHL quality roster.

They are in under the cap.

Yet there are people wanting to trade Seto? or Heatley?

Why not try playing with a full roster and a complete top 6 for a change.

Clutterbuck provides nice secondary scoring from the 3rd line, is cheap, and people seem to like the way he plays the game. We want to trade him why?

We might actually win more games than we lose by having quality up and down the roster, and may even be able to overcome an injury or 2.

If we wanted to lose depth, we should have traded for Nash or Ryan

Where's Boston's thread? They're currently the closest team to the cap.

Bingo.

Even if they bring up Brodin they still have a spare 1M.

Backstrom and PMB come off the cap next year (10M) and Heatley the year after (7.5M). I can't see a single reason why the Wild need to do this. Unless there's a cap reduction without rollback. In which case more than just the Wild are up the proverbial creek.
Bingo.

already signed.

sign a 7th defensemen for around 1.5 million and they have 1.3 left for injuries/call ups during the season.
Bingo.

Not worried at all. Craig Leipold makes it rain dolla bills.
