B. Morrow (LW)

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1227981

Just saw this being discussed around the web, if he were to be on the market I think he would be a good veteran addition at LW for Duchene or at the very least on the third line allowing Landeskog to move up and play next to Duchene.

It wouldn't exactly be the end of the world if he missed a few games with guys like Hishon needing some spot NHL time throughout the season.

He put up 130 hits in only 57 games last season and is a leader. At 33 hes still young enough that he could be resigned if his injuries become less of a problem, but works as a year or two fill in while the forward prospects we do have develop a bit more.

We are one short on the left side with Landeskog, McGinn & McLeod as our only real LWs.

Would he be worth picking up? How much would he cost?

McGinn - Stastny - Jones

Morrow - Duchene - PAP

Landeskog - O'Reilly - Downie

Doesn't look to bad does it?

Morrow played like crap last year because of an injury, he says he's better now, but I'rather not gamble on him being 100% healthy and I doubt he'll be cheap.

Do you think he would cost more than Ribero did? I doubt it especially with only a year left..

Prospect and a pick I would imagine.. Dallas needs center prospects

I would be willing to do Sgarbossa + 3rd if it looked like his injuries were not expected to be a serious issue going forward.

They also need physical D as well, and that is one area we could definitely spare. Wilson + pick maybe?

I wouldn't trade Bossa for Morrow straight up... let alone Bossa + a third. We've already signed too many older players this off season anyway.

I wouldn't trade Sgarbossa or Wilson straight up for Morrow.

Too risky due to the injury concern.

Plus, I just don't like him.

Like Bouwmeester; Morrow is in the same category of try to buy him when he's cheap. Something like a mid round pick and a decent prospect or NHL player.

Definitely would be a good alternative to Doan or Semin.

LOL so much Morrow hate..

I bet that would change when hes scoring, hitting and setting up Duchene in our sweater.

Like I said.. It would not be the end of the world if he missed a few games with Hishon & Heard needing a few NHL games under their belt at some point this year.

Go click on that link, there is a thread already. They know his value is not super high right now.

I think we have the assets we could move to make it happen without detracting from our roster in a major way.

Even if it took Hejda + 2nd it would be worth it. Zannon can fill Hejda's shoes IMO.

With Heard, Hishon, Sgarbossa & Olver.. We can afford to move Sgarbossa (Who we acquired as basically a throw in mind you.)

A gritting scoring LW to complete Landeskog & McGinn down the left side would make us a very scary team.

And a veteran winger is exactly what we need IMO. Especially a gritty left handed LW that can score.

All I am saying is if we really do want to win now then it's a good move.

I wouldn't give anything but a mid-level prospect and a 2nd for him. Can he stay healthy? The guy seems like he is hurt all the time. Last 6 years he has played 57, 82, 76, 18, 82, and 40 games.

Morrow's pointless. I wouldn't be willing to move any notable asset for him and I'd only trade for him if we were a contender looking to win a cup this season which we aren't even close to.

Not willing to lose only one of two top four dmen we have (Hejda) for Morrow. Offer Semin $7 M if you have to before Morrow.

lol you people are blinded by your hatred for Morrow, I get it.

But if it really didn't cost a significant roster player it would be worth it IMO. He fits exactly what we have been adding in player type and exactly what we need in a veteran.

Landeskog, McGinn, and Morrow down the left side would make us a very scary team to play against and give our forward prospects one or two years to develop. All of them are left handed as well so I would imagine converting one of those center prospects to LW would be the most likely chance any of them have at making the roster.

At the same time that would take time and development which a veteran player would give us without filling the hole longer term like the PAP or Jones or Downie signings do at RW.

If he could stay healthy even LA would have to be a little afraid of playing us.. CMON! lol

His recent injury history is significant.

He is saying hes fine now though.. I would imagine he would have to clear a physical before the trade was finalized as well.

Like I said I don't think it would be horrible if he had to miss a few games either and Hishon or Heard got called up for a few games but later in the season once they got some AHL time.

I would want him for at least most of the season but the playoffs in particular. While it might be a better deadline move we do have the roster spot open right now..

Because for a young rebuilding team they don't exactly have a top tier prospect pool. It's quite common for teams that are rebuilding to trade veteran players for assets. Especial cash strapped teams.

We did it with Smyth when we picked up Quincey did we not? Not exactly the same thing because Smyth was not with us for as long but similar premise.

Yeah, I agree with this. If we can't get Doan I think we're done for the off-season (barring some kind of trade that nabs us a 2D, I guess).

Also, I wonder why some of you guys don't seem hesitant to lose Sgarbossa... I realize it seems like DW threw him in, but no one's curious to see what someone like him could do at an NHL level?

I like Morrow, but I don't think he has much left in the tank. Players with that style tends to fade early.

I wouldn't mind him here, but wouldn't expect much in the way of offense. If we got him for a low price, I'd love him here. Which won't happen of course.
