Right, because the Rangers win the Cup all the time.

Dont overthink it. It's about the money - the extra guaranteed year(s) was big for a guy who hasn't made huge money yet in the NHL.

Yes that's what I mean.

And I didn't know about the 4th year.

That's arguable for Montreal too. Colberg, Galchenyuk, Tinordi, Bealieu, Gallagher, etc. So many big name prospects.

Staying with the team that was 6 wins away from the Stanley Cup or the team that drafted 3rd overall....

Yup. Rangers last offer to Prust was 3 years at 6 million I believe. Glad Montreal signed him.

Montreal definitely doesn't have the best prospect pool right now, Colberg and Galchenyuk are very good, I'm not high on Tinordi, they're maybe top 10, maybe. LA 4 years ago were known as having an absolutely amazing prospect pool with Bernier, Quick, Doughty, Voynov, Simmonds, Hickey, Boyle was still very highly touted, Lewis, Teubert, Purcell, Moller(what happened to him?) And then they had a great young core of Kopitar(considered to become a top 5 center), Dustin Brown, Matt Greene, Davis Drewiske, Jack Johnson, Jarret Stoll, Justin Williams. Montreal isn't even comparable to the Kings. Everyone knew they were on their way to be an amazing team, and the additions of key trades because of their drafting also helped. Montreal isn't comparable to 08 Kings.

When The other team wants/needs to trade a player, Slats gets stingy. I still think if Nash comes here, many will be surprised by how little goes to CBS.

Jagr for A. Carter

Lindros for Johnsson, Hlavac, Brendl, 3rd round pick

Avery for Ward, Marek, Cliche

Kovalev (LaCouture, Laukkanen, Wilson) for Samuelsson, Fata, Bouchard, Lintner and cash

Erixon (5th round pick) for Horak and 2 2nd round picks

Bure (and 2nd round pick) for Ulanov, Novak, 02 1st, 2nd and 4th round pick

A. Carter (and Pisa) for Dvorak and Cross

Sather wants Nash thats why, he knows it will take more than Dubinsky and a bunch of prospects, no matter how good they may be. If he's only offering Dubi + prospects, he doesn't really want Nash all that much.

He's not a practicualrly fast or great skater, not overly physical.
He is a very heady player with a nice wrist shot and is a good passer. I don't see him growing into much more.
You take one look at McD or Kreider play and you can envison them becomeing even better in next 2 years.

I might be crazy, but I think the Nash deal gets done and Stepan is the centerpiece.
Mayre this allows Howson to save face (I got stepan away even though Sather had refused to give him up).
I only think Stepan is untouchable because we don't have a replacement.

In a lot of those cases, the market was one. There are more bidders for Nash, however.

unless Slats thinks Dubinsky could be the 2nd line C or trade him for one. If that is the case, get me Ryan instead.

The same Ranger team that barely beat the 8 seed Sens in the first round in 7 games and then did the same in the 2nd round? Nobody who is objective is looking at the Rangers as some juggernaut team that's going to roll to the Cup next season. And again, it's about getting paid for players that haven't cashed in yet.

Nash has 4 or 5 teams on his list and none if the other teams seem that interested. We'll see. If it gets competitive, Slats walks - IMHO.

Barely? Then I guess the Bruins Stanley cup should have an asterix as they barely beat Montreal in the first round and barely beat Vancouver. Saying barely because a series went 7 games is quite possibly the dumbest thing I hear, and it's not just you I hear it from.

There is a difference between 1st place team getting to te ECF and the 28th overall team. If you can't see that go find another sport.

Edit: and I never said the Rangers were for sure getting to the Cup again. They just have a better chance looking at history, and the team compared to Montreal. There's no real argument for that. That's like the equivalent of who do you think has a better shot next year LA or the Islanders, c'mon.

I was very happy to see Ulanov go. He was a terrible player.

If they don't feel he's made the progress they want to see they'll deal him (see Sanguinetti, Montoya, Grachev)

RT @Real_ESPNLeBrun: At the end of the day, am told Zach Parise generated 16-17 official offers and about 20 teams inquired

I think he's above all those guys. He has a great size, skilled, good skater. He was called up a couple times last year. CT reports were that he progressed all year, even put on some pounds. He is on the cusp imo. I dont think hes going anywhere.

But I understand what youre saying. I just dont think it will happen. They invested a lot him.

You really aren't aware of Sather's approach to trading, are you? Chief already related an anecdote that Sather's the type of guy that would offer a person a straw hat in a hurricane. Of course. Sather wants Nash. But, he's going to get him at his price. He doesn't care what Howson is asking. He knows Nash wants to be a Ranger. He's just going to grind Howson down. And, if he doesn't get Nash, he'll move on. Howson, Portzline, Dreger....they can all play games on Twitter. It's not going to change Sather's approach to Nash. If he gets him, it's at the price the organization is willing to pay.

Debbies signed Krys Barch.

There's that Parise replacement. Uh oh!
