I never knew that.
Maybe Kane is the biggest team player we have after all. Not everyone will injure a player on another team so we can sign them cheap

Given how little time Kane spends in the defensive zone, he won't even get a chance to run him accidentally.

Not a bad signing, hey it's not like we overpayed! and like someone said, another goalie may come along through the waiver wire in Sept.

The Jets have had a pretty good off season so far!

1. Signed a huge winger who can score, play the PP and PK, and who may have chemistry with Antropov (Poni)
2. Signed one of the top FA centers who is big, can score and has apparently improved his two way game (Jokinen)
3. Signed one of the better, young back-ups available at a reasonable rate (Montoya)

As a previous poster joked, we should go out and sign Cam Barker as well! Maybe he can return to his Chicago form

Agreed.

Early on I was ready to call him ChevelDayOff.

The Dayoff portion of his name is emphasized as you can see to illustrate how inactive I thought he would be.

Luckily I don't have to call him that even though it is his name, but perhaps I should call him ChevelDayOn.

And I'm bored.

Hoping we bring in some competition for the #2 spot. Winner can stay with the big club, loser can share the net with Pasquale in St. J.

For a team that wasnt going to go after free agents, I think we've signed the most!

I think its a pretty great signing. He was really one of the best of the final leftovers (him and Ellis). Yes his SV% was bad and good like night and day... But so was Pavs... And Montoya averaged higher than Pavs. Note: NOT saying Montoya is better; that would be dumb of me.

Current depth goes: Pavelec, Montoya, Pasquale, Carrozzi, Kasdorf, Phillips/Hellebuyck

I hope that we sign Houser out of training camp to play as Pasquale's back up.
Maybe if we're lucky we can get an additional 1 year in the start of the season where we can sign an upgrade when some waivers happen around late September-early October and they can fight to be Pavs #2.
These 2 extra signings would be good with most of our longterm goalie depth going to College for 4 years.

Seems like a close team and great fan support were a factor in all 3 of our signings so far. TNSE must be happy right now!

This meme amongst the players is one to keep going, to hell with the no one will want to come here. The players will love coming to this market for the raucous support they'll get in the little barn that could.

So far I think TNSE is implementing their plan to near perfection, they really could become the model franchise on how to run the business and front office portions of the NHL business. That will pay huge dividends, players will want to come to a professional environment like they are setting up.

It was me, and I was more responding to his entire post that called for 4 players to be offered league minimum and Semin to be offered 2MM a year, so, yeah.

And yea, not really sure why the moderator part matters. You've been wrong LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of times about stuff

The thing is that you said there was 0% chance he'd sign for league minimum. Yes he didn't sign for "THE" minimum but I guarantee you Cheveldayoff offered him league minimum and went from there. THe Semin deal was a lowball offer becuase Semin has the worst reputation out of all of the free agents for being a "team" player. I did say Id increase the offer substantially based on demand. I am not a NHL GM with the ins of what he's being offered. I would still pay him 4 million a year believing that he is a buy low commodity with exceptional potential.

I am sorry if you took offense, I was just pointing out that he signed for what I said I would offer him.

No offense taken. In the Montoya instance, you were right and I was wrong and I give you props for that for sure.

I am a fan just like you, and as people around here will happily point out, I am wrong about things all the time

Edit: In the spirit of clarity here is your whole post and my response:

2004 - 6th overall selection. Has not met his potential, and has not been given an opportunity to play on a good team. With Winnipeg 1 year older the prospects should be 1 year better.

Gilbert Brule - 1 way contract for minimum for 2 years + 1 year team option.

2005 - 6th overall selection. has not met his potential, and I believe will thrieve if given the same role as Wellwood. He is only 25 and has the potential to be very talented. I am not sure the likelihood of him accepting, however, I would offer him security.

Ryan Parent - 1 way contract for league minimum for 2 years.

2005 - 18th overall selection, only 25 and would be a better defensive option than Mark Flood.

Alexandre Picard - 1 way contract for league minimum (550K?) for 2 years.

2004 - 8th overall selection, only 26. He was the Calder Cup MVP I feel he has the potential to be a solid 3rd line LW.

Alexander Semin - 3 years if the price is right say (2M I'd do it)

I would put him on a line with Kane and Burmistrov and let them go buck wild on the 2nd line together. I think he would enhance the game of Kane and Burmistrov a great deal.

I wouldn't have signed Ponikarovsky and instead Picard.
That is fine, but does anyone honestly believe any of these players would sign for the dollars you are offering. I say there is almost a 0% chance.

Once again I am sorry. It was a misunderstanding as all of those players I would start my offer there and go from there. I dont htink Semin has a lot of leverage although I hear Detroit will pursue him. The rest I believe will sign for under 700K. They are all great assets if they can take their game to the next level and I believe Winnipeg is a great opportunity to do that. Winnipeg shuffled the heck out of lines. We gave an unwanted Kyle Wellwood a shot on a very good line.

No need to be sorry, misunderstandings happen here all the time. Besides you got one right already. I do think the Semin offer is seriously low. Someone is going to give that guy 6MM, especially after the lunacy we just witnessed with Suter and Parise.
