Marleau for Grabner straight up is pretty fair IMO.

Marleau is on the wrong side of 30 and not going to get better, but he is a proven scorer and leader (I know I'm stretching on that one) and he costs a lot.

Grabner is young and cheap, they're both fast players and goal scorers.

The Isles need age and the Sharks need youth, I don't see how this doesn't benefit both teams.

I doubt Marleau would have any problems going back to center behind Tavares.

Because the goal of trading for a team like the Sharks is to get better. Marleau for Grabner does not make them better. It makes them significantly worse.

As for Murray and Demers, I wouldn't do that. Demers had a bad year and you're making him a throw-in for a deal. He's got more potential than Braun and should be kept. Both should be kept for now unless Hamonic was coming the other way somehow.

Grabner + 2013 3rd for Murray + a goalie prospect like Stalock? Doesnt matter between Stalock and Sateri, both have starter potential. Dont really know the Isles goalie situation and if they need Goalies though

Grabner and Demers, give or take a little on each side. As for that sixth defenseman, there is plenty on the UFA market.

This would work. I was thinking anything involving Murray or Demers. We can have Pelech/Irwin step up for the 6th spot or pick someone up from the market.

wow... has Grabner's value really diminished THAT much that he can only return a bottom pairing defenseman?

The isles just lost Parenteau and his 67 pts.Their big forward signing is Boyes and his 8 goals.

WHY would Grabner, who makes a team friendly $2m and who's scored 54 goals the last 2 seasons combined,be available?

1 yr of 32 yr old Murray+ sweeteners, is not worth 24 yr old Grabner.

If you want a foward back we can send Clowe and Murray.

It was an Isles fan that suggested Murray.

Clowe($3.6m) and Murray($2.5m) are both ufas in 2013.

Grabner's signed very cheaply for the next 2 seasons.

Parenteau's 67 pts were 2 pts behind Moulson's 69 pts.Parenteau was their 3rd leading scorer and was too pricey at $4m per,I'm gonna guess that the isles would prefer to pay Grabner $2m in 2012-2013 and $3m in 2013-2014,then trade him for 1 yr rentals.

Isle fans are also suggesting scenerios that have Parise,Ryan and Suter wearing NYI jerseys next season.

With Streit,Vis,Hamonic and MacDonald, the isles can breath a little easier because they have a top 4 with the potential to be solid.Carkner and 1 of the ahl rookies will be in the mix.

After Salvador re-signed with the Devils, the NY press said Snow was gonna shelve his search for another defenseman at this time.

Staples said in a predraft chat that Snow expects the new cba to push the cap down. That Snow will look to make trades with teams forced to dump salary.

Fans may be willing to move a cheap,24 yr old core player, for 1 yr of Murray, but I doubt Snow would be willing.

Would you be interested in something around Demers for Grabner.

C'mon.Look at it from Snow's point of view.

He thinks his top 6 has been upgraded with the Vis trade and Carkner signing. He has 22 yr old Donovan,22 yr old Ness and 21 yr old De Haan knocking on the door at Bridgeport.

He's also lost Parenteau's 67 pts over $.Replacing him with Boyes and his 23 pts.
Snow has gotta to be praying that Grabner and Okposo show more consistency, provide him with better secondary scoring.

I had to laugh at this. There is no way in HELL I'd trade Marleau for Grabner. Marleau may be 32, but he is an established first-line talent. Grabner is not close to that.

Doesn't Marleau have a NTC?

I can't see him waiving it for the NYI.

Now please explain WHY Snow would make such a trade.

He has his top 4 defense set and has lost Parenteau's scoring.

Nope, Nielsen isnt for sale. He is a great 2 way center, and outside of Tavares our only real top 9 center

So,Snow with his budget woes, trades two forwards on affordable deals, from his top 6, for two 1 yr rentals and Demers?

No thanks.

With Vis joining the top 4,Isles are not desperate about next season's top 4.

So what would the value of Grabner be? You haven't exactly said he's off limits and you just keep saying no so what would get us Grabner?
