Why didn't we offer him that? Way better than hudler!
Great decision Feaster, A+ buddy.

FML

Flames had the cap space to make the same offer, even without burying anyone in the minors.

On topic, I'm seriously concerned about what was Feaster's reason for not resigning him. It may be that nobody wanted to give 2 years, but considering how he's been for us I think we could have comfortably offered 5x2.

Apparently no one was gonna offer him a 4-5 year deal. I think he wanted to move on from the Flames, I'm sure he got the impression that he wasn't in our plans.

Could you imagine if he resigned in Calgary for 4.5M per season? The response from the main board here in particular would be hysterical.

Best of luck to Olli in Winnipeg. Can't say I will miss him however, but I truly appreciate the effort and determination he put into redeeming himself in this market.

It was time to part ways in my opinion, and I am happy for him that he got to stay in a Canadian market.

hmph, I'm stumped. I wasn't thrilled about the idea of signing him when I thought it would be +$5m for 4-5 years.

But 2 years at $4.5m? aww man.

A lot of "pity" coming from the concerned fans of other teams with little to no knowledge of the team's direction.
Makes it almost worth it that we didn't sign him.

All the best in Winterpeg Olli. I for one was hoping the Flames would re-sign but once Joker got his game back courtesy of said Flames team he decided to cut bait. It was all a bit sketchy and by no means am I saying I wouldn't do the same. I think he will need that extra cash to just stay warm in the peg let alone freezing Alberta

I believed at the start he was going to ask for at least $4 million+. A good signing by the Jets. Still wait and see for Hudler.

I used to have faith in Feaster. But Hudler gets 4 years? Sarich gets 2 mill/season? That time and money could've been spent on a player who played hard for us last year and was the corner stone of our centre position, thereby providing our first legit top line in ages.

I hope Jokinen the best. I'm ****ing pissed off about this off season considering Riberio, Jokinen, and Roy could've been had.

Can't expect them to ice the exact same team. I'm fine with Olli moving on.

All the best to Olli, I think its obvious both Olli and the Flames realized it was time to part ways.

You're right. So bring back Comeau, Stempniak and Sarich while Jokinen gets the cold shoulder?

Feaster is really taking a gamble with Cervenka+Hudler over Jokinen. I would have much rather had Olli back for 2 years at that cap hit.

Hopefully the other two work out better for us. Cause Olli was pretty solid all year.

I am in the same mindset as you, I personally haven't been impressed with one move yet this offseason, not one.

Give it time, let's see what the on ice product looks like first. At least this team will be much different heading into next season. Only time will tell if it is better or worse. Plus we still have lots of time before camp, moves could be made. I'm hoping for a center upgrade who can win FOs and is big.

As I've said already, if we can lose Stajan and sign Arnott, I would be pretty pumped.

I don't understand the fans on this site. When we didn't make the playoffs we want to make changes and when we do make changes they aren't good enough. Like pick a side and stay on it. So lets wait and see what else is there to happen with the club. It's not like olli was pushing us over the hump. And as for Hudler we won't know if he is a fit or not unless he plays for us. It's that simple.

Man I am shocked we couldn't make that. Wish Olli the best but I think the chances we make the playoffs took a huge blow.
