What would HF do?

UPS delivers a package to your front door, weird because you didn't order anything. You look at the package and it has someone elses name on it and it's addressed to the house directly across the street from you.

So HF loungers, what would you do?

Hang on to it until your neigbors get home, then return it.
Steal it after opening
Return it after opening
Throw it in the garbage after opening

This did happen to me today, but I don't really care, amazon already refunded my money and I reordered the same product.

What is every other week on my block. I like most of my neighbors, so we return their stuff. Usually it's not as exciting as the box looks: baby seats, binders, fishing supplies.

At first I was like, how much do I like this neighbor? Anything neutral and up gets an automatic favor and I just give them their stuff. But after thinking about it, I'd deliver it to neighbors I hate too... because they'll just get a refund/replacement (with possibility of extras for inconvenience).

I'd complain about it on the internet. And then return it

Open the package and then decide to return it, steal it, or throw it away.

You'll regret it if one day it's a package of one million dollars.

Just take it to their door. No need to wait until they're home, if not for the mistake delivery it would have been sitting on their doorstep anyway. Not my responsibility to keep someone else's package safe.

Just another reason why I'm glad I don't live near any of you.

Take it to your neighbour when they're back, obviously.

Open it obviously. It could have certain "valuables" inside.

I'd return it personally, but since the question was what would HF do, I thought collectively the package would be stolen.

Just toss it on their doorstep. My neighborhood does things the right way, so no need to worry about someone taking off with it.
