Anyone see the pictures of Fehr's press conference today? He had Parros on his left and Westgarth on his right. Maybe their Princeton educations are coming in handy.

Obviously not handy enough since we're heading to a lockout

Trend I'm noticing around the boards are fans in the North blaming us and every other team in the South for the lockout. It's going to get pretty ugly around these parts in the next few days.

Yeah, because it's OK to take expansion money from teams in questionable markets but why should they have to share revenues to keep those teams financially healthy? Nothing like having your cake and eating it too.

I don't often side with the players in these sports labor issues but the owners really seem to create more of their own problems. After what the players gave up last time I can't fault them for saying they won't make huge concessions again. The owners basically want a salary structure that will allow the weaker teams to make money, thereby allowing the stronger teams to make gobs more money. I understand the stronger teams not wanting to share, but it gets back to my first point. Why did they expand? Oh yeah, more money for everybody, that's right.

Major league sports are a private club. They don't operate in a free market where anybody can choose to compete. As such they need to be more supportive of the best interests of the "club" than if they were a local grocery store competing against another grocery store.

Feel free to disagree.

Does anyone have a list of our players overseas and what teams they play for?

Edit: I'm referring to guys over there due to the lockout.

Is that list complete? I thought that Hiller signed in Switzerland.

They're usually right on the money.

BTW as per Stephens: "Jonas Hiller's agent says they're weighing offers from a few teams but wouldn't specify which or where. Said there is no rush or timetable."

So Kadri got ripped to shreds early in Marlies TC for being fat and average skating.

Be prepared for Kadri for Getzlaf folks, might be time to edit that avatars.....

Never had heard of nor seen Tyson Barrie before, but I just watched him score a sweet ass goal against Lake Erie.

Good news, the NHL and PA finally put in almost a full work day (7 hours) today to get the lockout resolved. Gee, I hope they didn't get tired sitting around a fully catered conference room, and you know, actually communicating with one another.

The fact that they apparently haven't touched the make whole issue yet is worrying. That's the biggest obstacle to getting this thing done.

I thought it was the owner's move to take on that financial responsibility that got them back to the table. Wasn't it?

It was but to what extent they're willing to nobody seems to know. I'm not sure whether they were willing to swallow the whole costs of player contracts or if they just agreed to move on their existing position. According to Aaron Ward, that's what the main topic will be tomorrow.

Well, since they made so much progress Saturday I'm hoping that indicated they are close enough to get it done as they continued to meet. But I could be a bit too optimistic.

Nothing wrong with optimism. Pessimism is for cowards, anyway.

That said, I am a big old wuss. I'm still afraid that both side won't budge.

I think this could be the now or never moment. If it doesn't happen this week I think there is a good chance it won't happen this season at all.

This is the most optimistic I've been in a long time. Aaron Wards tweet saying they didn't touch the make whole issue today kind of put a damper on things but the fact that the media who have been mostly pessimistic so far are speculating about the number of games we may see and when they start has to be a good thing.

I'm just hoping we don't hear about a fall out after the meeting. As long as they say nothing, I'll be pretty happy.

Depends who. Lebrun and Dreger have been very reliable and honest throughout the process.

Wow, looks like there going to be a third day in a row of meeting. Did they finally realize that they were being stubborn toddlers about this?

Expect the talks this week to continue thru Friday. But by then there needs to be some traction...real traction. #tickticktick

So that's why they seem to be going smoothly, and haven't gone to the media directly after a meeting to point fingers.

Not that he's very smart outside of actual hockey, but Bob MacKenzie thinks today is the day that will either make or break a potential season.
