It didn't work last time there was a lockout but nothing else seems to be working so why not?

It's worked before with other leagues. I think the two sides are closer than they were the last time they called in arbitration. At the very least, taking a little bit of the control from the two parties is a good thing.

Non-binding mediation? Given how little either side has moved recently, I doubt this will do anything.

I fehr (pun intended) the league is going along to try and pretend they want resolution while the players figure anything is better than where they currently are.

At this point in time I think we can kiss the season good bye.

Uh, ok, but my internet connection sucks. Trying to watch a game is impossible. Where can I find some good local hockey? I've seen some bantams locally but I really want something with bigger kids if not adults. Anybody got any ideas around the OC?

I looked at their schedule and saw the Cup would be there Saurday.

Do they ever sell out? Can you walk up that night and buy tickets?

Ew, the Reign are a Kings affiliate.

I have gone to a game, though. It's nice being able to afford ice level seats.

EDIT: As for the lockout negotiations being mediated, I think they should have done it from the start. But at this point, it's too little too late. Who knows though, with someone there that actually wants to get a deal done, and possibly telling both sides that they need to give and take, maybe it'll work. In other words, I hope it will work.

I think we can say goodbye to seeing an NHL season. It should never have come to this.

Even a half season is a lost season to me, so this was over a month ago. These idiots, I hope they get what they deserve out of this.

I just hope that this isn't just an end run by the PA to wipe out the cap. I have little doubt that we'll be hockey's Clippers if it is.

Fehr got his wish. This season sure seems gone.

Bettman wants some owners and players to meet without any reps there........dont think that will happen. Fehr will want his ego in the room.

I think the only way they get rid of the cap is to decertify. And, if they truly go down that road, the NHL as we currently know it will be seriously transformed. At the end of the day more players will lose their NHL jobs as teams fold and those who aren't stars will be pining for the good old days of higher wages and better benefits. But nothing would surprise me now that this has just turned into a big ego battle.

If by that you mean that you hope they lose all the fans and NHL folds, I wholeheartedly agree. Unfortunately, that wont happen.

Begin rant: I just hope Bettman and Fehr, but mostly Bettman pays for it. I believe, even though I think he's just as stubborn, that Fehr is just doing his job. But Bettman is the Commissioner. It's his job to keep the league running. And the league isn't running during a lockout. And I think by far, the league is the side that hasn't moved much in their demands. When a proposal is made by one side, the other needs to accept it or send back their own counter proposal. But it seems to me that the PA is the only ones to ever make a serious counter proposal, at least to public knowledge. All they give us is, "We rejected the offer, because the two sides are too far apart." Which is an insult to the intelligence of everyone else, because the only way to bridge that gap is for both sides to come together, but Bettman wants us to think that it's in the PA's hands to come down, and not the NHL's job to go up. It's that attitude that has kept any kind of true negotiations from happening.

I'm just so tired of it all. Cancel the whole damn thing so Teemu can at least play his last games on Jokerit.

Here's my $.02 on Bettman...

Yes, he is employed by the owners so I understand his natural bias. But he is commissioner of all of the NHL. He has a responsibility to everybody associated with the game. That includes players, fans, vendors, sponsors, arena workers, etc. If he were doing his job better he could still side with the owners but work with them to form a consensus that will help the owners get what they want, while still being for the good of the whole NHL.

His record as commissioner is abysmal. Having presided over the most lost games, seasons or any other statistical record is a disgrace. If all it takes to be NHL commissioner is to take orders from the owners and wait to be told what to do, then any of us could do the job. Where do I sign up?

It's time to step up Gary. Have some integrity and force a deal to happen. Now.

Yeah on some occasions, but like minor league baseball you can pretty much walk up and buy tickets. I don't care that their the Kings affiliate, they hardly ever have Kings players on the team. If I remember right Kyle Clifford just joined the team though.
