Poaching both of them would just be wrong.

Stable ownership. Everything.

Targetting Weber because of the Suter connection is logical and reasonable. It's not greedy.

The only teams and fans who push a single way to build a team are almost certainly from historic and decorated franchises who reputation does half the work for them, and dollars to the other half, so they can look down on teams like the Wild who sign players because god-forbid NHL players want to raise kids in a great location.
so your new innovative way to build a team is to tie up over $30m in your cap in four players now in thier prime for a decade (ish). is that correct?

People don't get it.... we clear some space next year, sure... but if players like Granlund and Coyle hit their ceilings, we have to give them even LARGER contracts down the road while we still have Suter and Parise's contracts on the cap. This stuff adds up quick if you're not careful. You can't go all out and buy top talent every year like the pre-cap years.

Use all the means to build a team... and Fletcher has been doing just that... but the thing you HAVE to be best at doing is developing players yourself. You use mostly home grown developed players, and SUPPLEMENT that talent base with an occasional trade like last year and Free Agent signings this year.

any particular reason? When is probably the biggest/most important question. does Poile believe he'll reach free agency? does Poile think the Preds are a playoff team next year? (because then you keep him even though you suspect he's out the door the next off-season). Do you sell high (some fear his numbers will take a hit with Suter's absence) or trust you can work something out?

What I fear the most is Weber signing with the Nucks.

The friend (camera guy, is a good guy who wouldn't bs about that, but he said that last year before Hitch went out there so mayb its different now). Oshie is the only player he's ever said anything about to me, meaning he's not a big story telling bs'er.
Oshie is the kind of player that would fit Wild perfectly but i don think there is any hope i getting him.

That'd be the best case scenario.

The fact he won't sign his tender and will not go to arbitration (which he has to do, the team cannot) speaks volumes to me.

I'm sure ultimately he'll be thrown under the bus by Poile a la Suter if he leave Nashville.

If you're looking for a UFA steal after this coming season, then lets target Alex Edler from the Canucks. They have $18 mill tied up in D-men for the next few not including him.

Plus our managment has a penchant for locating these guys one year before. He'll be Weber's sloppy seconds and I'm down for that kind of action.

Have to think that Gillis does everything to keep Edler, they absolutely need him now that they lost Salo.

I agree, but he was the 1st step, and he showed that the ownership is willing to spend, he can always ask for a trade, but 7x7 isn't easy to move..

I thought i'd feel bad for Nashville but i really don't anymore, especially after Poile's reaction to Suter's signing which still leaves smiles on my face.

That being said, in the interest of competitive balance and fearing how much better Weber could make a great team like Pitt, i hope he stays on a merely decent team like Nashville.

I think he's pretty much on his way out, it's up to Poile to move him or risk losing him for nothing.

Weber is going to Toronto next summer. A poster on TSN said so

What is the chance that Poile doesn't trade Weber's rights next year when he finds himself in the same predicament

The TSN comments are horrible... I don't bother with them..

And history suggests a slim chance.
