Interesting...I don't see any undrafted free agents on there. Of course, the fact that there are 24 players from the last six drafts who are still in the system and who haven't really cracked the NHL says something as well.

Atkinson but no Calvert...also interesting.

I'm not clear on the rules of these camps, but I was thinking Johansen, Atkinson and Calvert would have been exempt. Clearly, I was wrong, but anyone know what the rules of invitation are?

Per Puck Rakers

"Center Michael Chaput and defenseman Thomas Larkin will attend camp, but won't take part in on-ice practices because of injeries."

NM, did not notice that this was noted on the roster.

Yes, Oliver is the only undrafted player in here. But he's obviously not a FA now.

Well yeah, but he came to the team via free agency. I did not read Mayor's post correctly.

Development camp is primarily for the non-pro players. There are usually a few "veterans" there as mentors, but it's not surprising that Calvert and York aren't attending.

It's not the Traverse City tournament (that has rules about number of players with pro experience), but it's probably difficult to deal with players with different levels of experience in a camp like this.

agreed, that said I always wanted to see members of the CBJ Leadership corps participate in this thing. Be it suited up and going through the occasional drill with the group, or just in street clothes and skates out on the ice.

Let them know that the players that they someday hope to play with actually care about them and want to see how they're doing.

I think Nash did take the group to dinner one year, but I don't know, I guess I was hoping for more involvement from the players. They're the ones who will most benefit with better teammates if these kids develop properly.

I dunno, I'm not a pro athlete, maybe they would fear these kids would take their jobs.

First time in years I will not be there in person. If any of you go please post pictures and impressions. Especially on young Mr. Murray. Thank you!

Really interested to see how Mike Reilly is progressing and how he stacks up to the competition. I'll be relying on all of you for updates on our prospects for a change

“@RyanCBJPR: A late addition, but Alex Aleardi from the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) will be at #CBJ Development Camp as an invite.”

What's the difference between on ice and on ice testing? Is there one?

I've been searching for about 9 hours for any real information (like scouting reports) on Aleardi, and all I know is that he's been passed over in the draft three times and still has a season of OHL eligibility.

Found a lot of game articles, but that's it.

On-ice is the actual practice-type drills and that fun stuff. On-ice testing is actually establishing a baseline for a player's physical abilities...more of skills competition/combine type of stuff.

5'10" speedy winger, isn't afraid to mix it up and get his nose dirty. He was suspended in 2011 for doping, but no idea what it was exactly. That's about all I could find myself.

According to a couple of the articles I found, it involved something that the OHL doesn't allow that was found in an "over-the-counter stimulant drink". I'm guessing something along the lines of 5-Hour Energy.

I don't know if the old rule still exists, but it used to be that college players had to pay their own way to everything and couldn't have the team pick up the tab. Olson is still in college, so that possibility exists if the rule is still there.

Indeed. Must maintain the illusion of fair play and amateur status.
