The Canuck franchise's hopes have never been hung on Mason Raymond, he had also had some AHL seasoning and joined the Canucks at the age of 21 whereas RNH was only 18. The Oilers didn't have any need to rush him, but they did regardless.
And if they kept him out, they could have gotten a higher draft pick!
Schultz will be given top pairing minutes probably because of what he's doing in the AHL, and likely because that's what Tambellini guaranteed him. Everything is just a big rush, I suppose.

So far that's looking like Tambo 1 - Gillis 0. A rushed Schultz > no Schultz, though Schultz certainly seemed ready so it's not even rushed.

I guess you could give Tambo a point for tanking so many years that it made a positive environment to draw Schultz in, but would you really want Gillis to try and compete with that?

No way he could. The only option might have been a trade with the ducks to buy some time but even then it seems Schultz made his mind up early.
Big fan of Pierre McGuire. Just listening to him on Team 1040 and just every time I hear him I'm impressed. The guy breathes hockey and is overall just a very smart man, I'm shocked he's not a GM somewhere.

Well. I have an extremely hard time listening to Blake Price and Matt Sekeres, so I don't listen....give us the 'cole's notes'.

Makes little sense 2bh, the guy would be a fantastic GM, and would also draft some studs.

He's on Montreal radio (Team 990) every day at around 2:15 Pacific time if you want his insight on a daily basis. Been listening for the last couple years, very knowledgeable guy on the radio when he's not having to maintain his TV personality.

I agree. I wish he'd tone down the theatrics and do a little more teaching and less cheerleading with his platform but overall he's great for hockey.

He's a creep. Just because he knows where these juniors played hockey and can pronounce Swedish cities impeccably doesn't mean he knows anything of any real value. He might "breathe hockey" but he's a moron....just have to listen to his commentating to get an idea of the breadth of his stupidity. I'd love it if he were the GM of a team, as long as it wasn't the Canucks.
I've heard his commentating in the 2011 Finals was pretty bad, though I wouldn't know as it was on NBC supposedly. Very knowledgeable about hockey nonetheless.

Yup. He just comes across exceptionally creepy... on occasion.

I can say I disagree with this completely. Seems like these are more opinions on why you don't like him rather then why he isn't a good hockey person. Also he doesn't just "breathe hockey" he lives it & has done so for a long time!
I hope you're not basing this completely on his commentating either & would love to hear more reasons why you don't think he is a good hockey person then just insults like "He's a creep" , "he's a moron" , "He's an embarrassment to broadcasting" & commenting on his "breadth of his stupidity".
