Wow. The complete Nash deal is Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon, and a 1st.

Columbus didn't get a single game-breaker or stud prospect in the trade. I feel very bad for their fans.

Dubinsky (3rd liner), Erixon (who is this guy?), Anisimov (3rd line C), and a 1st...

Well looks like they got a bunch of crap in return...

The fact that NYR didn't have to give up either Stepan, Kreider, MDZ or McDonagh is amazing.

Howson's going to be fired. They got almost nothing in return for a star.

Looks quite bad for Columbus. 2 40-50 point players, a good yet uncertain D-prospect and a 1st rounder for their franchise player.

I think people are overestimating Nash's value. He's making nearly $8 million a year against the cap, put up 59 points last year, and has cracked 70 points once in his decade long career. If any of the other teams on his list were offering better packages I'm sure he would've been traded there.

I cannot believe that Columbus did not get one of Stepan, Krieder, Miller, McDonagh, or Del Zotto. How was Scott Howson allowed to keep his job this off-season? The organization would've been better off firing him and trying to patch things up with Nash.

Just for comparison's sake: Booth, Raymond, Connaughton, and a 1st.

Yeah I completely agree. All this Jeff Skinner, Logan Couture BS was just that.

Holy heck. Nash, Gaborik, Richards, Stepan, Callahan, and Kreider up front. Staal, Girardi, Staal, Mcdonagh and MDZ in their back-end. King Henrik as their goaltender.

Cup favourites? I'd say by far.

As someone who has not wanted Nash here and thinks he is more than a bit overrated around these parts, Rangers still have made out like Bandits in this trade. 2 very inconsistent 2nd/3rd liners, a good prospect and a 1st... is very poor value for Howson.

If i were a Columbus fan, i'd be calling for his head.

A cap dump, a 3rd liner, a wild card prospect and a first in the 20's range

Doesn't matter if Nash made tons of cash, they got Dubs in return who shouldn't have any value.

Good night sweet Howson.

terrible for cjb. that would be like us trading raymond, booth, a 1st and Connauton for Nash. NYR gave up very little.

True, but the NYR just got Nash for a bunch of depth players. This is an absolute steal for them, despite what other teams were offering CLB.

Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline

#CBJ also sending 3rd pick and minor-league defenseman to #NYR in Nash trade.

I think Erixon is a lot better than people are giving credit for. Comparing him to Connauton or Tanev is silly; this is a guy who scored at a 50 pt pace as a 20 year old rookie in the AHL.

Not a great package at all, but teams probably weren't willing to sell the farm for Nash given his cap hit. He asked to be traded to one of 5 teams and none of them were evidently willing to give up any quality for a 65 point $8 million player.

^^ Sad thing is... Columbus isn't done giving. A 3rd and a prospect! Does not compute.

Oh wow. I'm pretty sure the NBA has a rule that prevents trades like this going through. There should be a point where the league can intervene and just get Howson gone.

We're all aware of the circumstances, but that still doesn't take away from the fact that CLB was completely ripped off.

just to play devil's advocate:

Columbus replaced Nash's 30 goals with Anisimov and Dubinsky (assuming they're good for 15 goals each). Those 2 players combine for a caphit that is ~1.8m lower than Nash's 7.9m caphit. Columbus replaces Nash's scoring, gets a bit younger, spends less money, and adds to their prospect cupboard.

Besides, Nash is a "known quantity" in the sense that he's probably close to his peak and not likely to suddenly explode in production, while Anisimov is still growing his game and likely will improve his production with more experience.

I don't think it's a great trade by Howson, but I think it's a fair one.

EDIT: I posted this before finding out that CBJ is also giving up a 3rd and a prospect. I'll wait to find out what all the pieces are before I continue running my mouth lol.

Do you really think Nash can't pot more goals playing with Richards and Gaborik instead of an ancient Propsal and Brassard? Lol

Nash is an unique player. Sather only gave expandables
