You think so? He put up 47 points in 77 games last season. I think that it would take about 1.5 per. I'd do it though and see if he can put up somewhat similar numbers with us.

I'm reminded of Billy Beane in this situation. The As couldn't replace Giambi individually, but they could do their best to do it in the aggregate. Lou needs to take the same approach, especially under budgetary constraints.

Sign Wellwood (2yr/$1.5M per), Huselius (2yr/$3.0M per), and maybe someone like Moore (1yr/$1.0M). Players with specific skillsets that can be had for below market value.

Kovalchuk - Zajac - Huselius
Elias - Henrique - Zubrus
Wellwood - Josefson - Clarkson
Carter - Gionta/Moore - Bernier

Sounds interesting. You think Lou will go in that direction or will you refuse to even acknowledge I even replied to you?

EDIT : okay then. Looks like I know whose Ignore list I'm on. If that's the case, I suppose I should put Stray Cat on my Ignore list too. It's only fair.

Judging by some reports, we made a "competetive offer" to Zach which means that Lou likely offered him anywhere from 8-12 million in salary next season. I assume that this money is still available and we have about 10 million to play around with before we reach the budget limit. No idea if it's true but I hope it's right. I like some of your suggestions but going for a bigger fish like Semin should be possible.

I love how I raise Taylor Hall and no one responds or does one matacomb of research. You do know he wants out of Edmonton and he is a "boyhood friend " of another guy on this team...just saying

Replacing Huselius with Semin would be ideal, but not sure the Devils can or should compete with the Red Wings in a bidding war for his services.

Yeah, they are probably desperate right now. Missed out on Parise and Suter and they lost Hudler.

When did Taylor hall say he wasn't out? The price for him would be humongous anyway. Not worth it.

Since when has Hall said he'd like to leave Edmonton? It's the first I've heard of it.

Smh. Way too much bromance in the NHL. You would think this was ancient Greece with all the men & their boyhood companions...

Actually, he is one guy I have in the back of my mind for us to poach from another team. But he's a ways away from UFA and we would have to lock up Henrique first. Getting him now would require giving up Larsson and that's pretty much a no-go.

I have not heard that he wants out of Edmonton. I do know the relationship so far there has been a little rocky with some off the ice stuff and fans being a little too hard on him.

Let me add I would have no problem ripping him from Edmonton at some point in the future as if there's one team that deserves it, it's Edmonton for their shenanigans the past few years.

Man. I forgot about when Sam Gagner was the greatest player in the world for a week. I also forgot that Mike Cammalleri even existed.

We must remember this and use it to our advantage when the time comes.

Less distance for Lou to travel at least.

It would be nice to have a player lure a star to our team for once, instead of the other way around.
