Joe Colborne to the Jets

I really like this big centre, what would it take for the Leafs to send him to Winnipeg?

I doubt there's a deal that would make sense, because a top 6 centre with size is arguably our #1 need.

We're pretty set on the wing and on D long-term.

Our goaltending is rocky, but you're obviously not going to give up Pavelec for Colborne.

Yea I don't see us as good trading partners. None of the guys you would feel were expendable would be guys I'd want to trade Colbourne for. None of the guys you have that I like could be gotten for Colbourne.

Maybe a first round pick?

I personally don't see a great fit for trading partners. I think it is best for the leafs to keep him unless he is in a package for a #1 center or #1 goalie or another really good defenseman. You have a goalie I would be semi interested in and ofcourse you have a defenseman that I am interested in, but I don't think Winnipeg is in the position to be trading either right now. Don't think the leafs would trade Colborne for lesser prospects/depth. I would take your 2013 first round pick for him, but you and other Jets fans would of course laugh at that.

Due to our need for big offensive center, it would take an overpayment.

Colborne++ for one of Ladd/Burmistrov/etc.

Maybe Colborne for Cormier++.

Not going to happen. I would add to Colborne to get Burmistrov/Schiefle. But we need an overpayment because we need big sized centremen.

Why would Wpg need Colborne when they have Burmistrov/Scheifele/Little/Jokinen/Antropov at centre?

A dman prospect like Stuart Percy would be of more interest in case Enstrom leaves and they need a new baby sitter for Byfuglien.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what exactly makes Colbourne more valuable than Cormier?

Both are the same age and had similar numbers in the AHL last year (Cormier: 33 points in 56 games = 0.59 PPG, Colbourne: 39 points in 65 games = 0.60 PPG). Colbourne is big at 6'5" and 213 lbs, but Cormier isn't exactly small at 6'2" and 205 lbs.

But again, that is a prospect we think highly of and you guys aren't going to be willing to trade any of the pieces we would be looking for.

Colbourne had a wrist injury in the second half that I think required surgery at the end of the year hurting his production. Why one of our top prospects was allowed to play for 3 or 4 months with an injury? I have no effin idea.

Toronto's biggest need is a big number one center. The kid played real well out of the gate and then got injured. Finished the years slowly with a wrist injury and had surgery a few weeks ago. I don't think Toronto is interested in traded the kid unless it's a good young NHL'er coming back.

Could throw out some names but you'd just balk. That said Toronto will just wait on him instead of trade him for a piece they don't need or a second round pick.

And he did great in the first half of last AHL season before his wrist injury slowed his production down.

People really have no patience for development these days.

Colborne is doing fine. I'm quite excited about his development. I'd rather see if he can put it together.

He spent a long time dominating smaller kids due to his massive size and now is learning how to play against professionals.

I think development was the key issue when I posted this. I know the Leafs biggest need is down the middle but the Leafs always seem to be in a hurry. I see Winnipeg as a place where he would be given a while longer to develop.

Colborne at the very minimum is worth a 2nd rounder.

Joe Colborne played with a broken finger and injured wrist for the majority of the season.

When he was healthy, Joe was putting up ridiculous numbers in the AHL.

There isn't really anything in the Jets organization that would tempt Toronto to trade him there.

Counter productive.
