I would probably thing hard about this.. But ultimately, I'd probably say no.. I'd be more willing to move Schenn instead of Couturier

I would really have to think about it. What would you say if a counter proposal came back to you....

PHI:
Couturier
Meszaros
Lilja

OEL

I realize the flyers have to move quality players in order to receive quality players but I'm just not a fan of the concept of moving Couturier.

I'm sure the value is about right but idk.

Love OEL, but I don't think I want to give up a 1st round player and a 1st round pick for a 1st round player. It all really depends on how bad our D is this season/next.

i wouldnt move Cooter yet..

he has to much possible upside to move him already. besides we got lots of young guns that would be good trade bait. but not Coots plz.

I really dont see what OEL has proven so far that makes him a 1st rounder more valuable than Coots.

Couturier is a special player. He could be one of those rare centers that can not only shut down the oppositions best players (which he has shown he can do), but also out score them (which he has shown potential for). He is a Selke winner in the making who has the potential to put up 70+ points regularly.

I'm on the same page as Mota... I think OEL will be a less impactful player than Couturier and has proven less so far relatively. Unfortunately I haven't seen OEL play anywhere as much as I've seen Couts, but he hasn't looked like a potential game breaker to me and still has a lot to prove at the NHL level. Even in Sweden he only played in the second tier.

**** off.

Frankly, if you want to sell me on a young, stand-out, two-way defenseman this early, then you better bring along the man who sold Furbys to swear to me that OEL is a notch above the rest. No, sir he won't regress at all; none of the others did either.

Long story short, don't inquire about Couturier.

But totally agree. What the hell has OEL done above what Cooter has managed so far in their careers. You are not getting Cooter for that deal. Adding the first overall is just insulting.

That's because his team was currently in the second tier, not because he wasn't good enough.

I'm not going to compare Couturier and OEL because like how you admitted you haven't seen OEL nearly as much, I haven't seen a ton of Couturier either, but I will say on many nights during the playoffs he logged the most minutes among defensemen on our team. I think he's proven himself quite a bit considering how young he is.

You tell'em Chris!! Leave the kids alone. Couturier and the Schenn's are very good corner stones to build a team.

The first with it? No.

But OEL is a beast. Couturier for OEL straight up. I'd consider it.

Wow. Alcohol is awesome and makes me type angry things at people on HFBoards. Furby? I'm not even sure what I was talking about.

Anyway, regardless of my level of intoxication, I was completely right.

Maybe I'm not as high as most on OEL, but I would think the first would come back our way, not go to PHX.

I honestly just can't see either team doing this. Both are just too important pieces to their respective teams and neither has any incentive to move them. Sure their filling some important holes, but it's undoing a lot of what you already have. Maybe the Flyers move Schenn and a first, but probably not Coots.

You find a rookie that can shut down one of the best forwards in the game through the regular season and into the playoffs you don't just go and trade him away.

Made the thread on both boards, a clear no from both sides. My conclusion is that fans are really sold on their young guys with a high upside.

Well, I think both teams are stuck taking this deal at the moment whether they like it or not.

It's pretty amusing, right? The Flyers finally find the player -- a special talent and truly rare gem of a player -- who can match up against Malkin, and people think, after just one season and at age 19, he's acceptable trade fodder. I can tell everyone without equivocation: Sean Couturier will not be traded, for anyone. Nor should he be. And you better believe everyone in the Flyers organization, especially the big boss, feels the exact same way. Couturier and Giroux are the franchise cornerstones.

I'm telling you, two to three years from now Couturier will be one of the NHL's premier two-way centers and an annual Selke finalist, all while putting up around 70 points per season. You simply do not find many players of his caliber -- and when you do, you ****ing hold onto them with a death grip.
