This is his year to break out. He will have skill to play with (Hudler, possibly Baertschi or Cervenka). I think a lot of fans will give up on him if he does not play like we all think he can.

Great news. Hope he sticks around and has a break out season. Still think he might be trade bait with a defenseman for help in the middle. That contract will definitely help on either front.

Good contract, he needs to prove himself. For those wondering, it's actually less than his salary from 2011/12 which was $787,500.

Now on to Irving?

Great contract, if he clicks with new line mates, this could look extremely well.

Feaster strength is contract signings (well minus the NMC's). Lets see what Backlund can do.

He will have much more talented wingers this year! Even if he is playing on the 1st line or the 3rd line the talent around him will be better - time to break out Backlund and then get paid!

He needs to get his game together and start producing. He's starting to remind me of Lombardi in a way.

Great signing, he's gonna have a season to prove himself. With Sven Baertschi coming in i think it will be good for Backlund.

Well played by Feaster. Fantastic deal for us. I really hope he steps his game up this season.

Only the production part. Skill wise Backlund is so much better. But Backlund really has only been a disappointment last season when everyone was expecting a break out season. I remember expecting that from lombardi for like 3 consecutive seasons.

Yep. The competition for roster spots, spotlight, ice-time.... That's his competition and if they click on a line....good news.

I believe they will be like Zajac and Parise (not in terms of playing style) but the fact that Backlund will be just good enough to keep up with Sven.

Pretty good cap hit. The only person left to sign is Irving. With 3.5 million left, there's no reason why Feaster can't get it done while keeping a little space for the deadline if need be.

I think Babchuck is gone for sure if we assume that Irving and Sven make the team then that is 24 contracts on the roster.

This. Lombardi had hands of stone, whereas Backlund has the skill. I'm happy he's going to be back, and hope he can have a breakout season that isn't plagued with injuries like last season was/isn't playing on the 4th line with guys like Jones and Jackman.

What will Babs yield? I think the Islanders would give us a pick for him so they can reach the floor. Plus the Islanders are weak on defense. Maybe a 3rd?
