We're talking about Devan Dubnyk here, $2.5M is not a steal. It's a decent/good deal for both sides. Definitely not a steal though. He's not that good. That's like the Canuck fans who are going around saying Garrison at $4.6M for the next 6 years is a "steal". Come on.

Actually it does make a difference if he gets 3.5 M and 2.5 M. Maybe not now when they have the room but in a few yrs time, if he has 3.5 M then he's gonna be looking for a pay raise assuming he's still a starter and if the performance is avg then he's gonna be looking for a raise on 3.5 M, if it's 2.5 M and the performance is avg then he'll be looking at 3.5 M.

Anyways, I'm guessing it'll be close to 2-2.5 M.

No1 dman Jeff Petry on the other hand should get $7.6 M

Good for the Oilers to get Dubnyk locked up. I said it in another thread, but I feel he's underrated. Any time I watch the guy he's pretty solid back there. Get a halfway decent D in front of him and I think he will thrive.

As long as the dollar amount isn't ludacris, it's a good signing. He hasn't really gotten a chance to prove himself just yet. Good way for Edmonton to find out if he is the goalie of the future or if they have to find one. I think the length is excellent. Didn't lock him up too long if he doesn't work out.

I've always had a feeling that Dubnyk is better than he's been allowed to be. He's just had a tough couple years with inconsistent starts and an inconsistent team in front of him. I feel like he'll only get better.

Don't see how 2-2.5 could be seen as anything but reasonable. I don't think he deserves league minimum thats for sure.

Start getting up to 3-4m and yeah I could def say that's a gamble.

Nah, it's kinda true, he has good numbers, and if he was on another team he'd be viewed as a pretty good goalie, people love to hate the oilers. that's like Gagner being a bust even though he puts up over 40 points a season and is still young.

Let's let Dubnyk actually be a starter before comparing him to other starters.

Notice the glaring absence of games played in the stat analysis...

I agree on the Rask factor, but I would say he's comparable to Shcneider who is unproven himself and had a good D in front.

Dude, many of the goalies on your list are unquestioned #1 goaltenders who play whenever they are healthy enough to play. They are not Dubnyk comparables in any way.

Wow Veteran, you actually made a post that wasnt complete ****. You should go out and buy yourself a pint to celebrate. Although I dont want to give you too much credit, the other two goalies mentioned arent as good as their respective fan bases make them out to be. At least not yet.

Yikes, too much for Dubnyk, even if he is better than he is generally given credit for around here. How many goalies would actually perform decently on the Oilers of recent years??

Yeah, this is weird.

I thought Dubnyk would get ~2.5 and Petry would get ~3
