Way way too much for dubnyk. Dont think hes more than a 2m guy. Petry contract a total steal so it works out in the end i guess. But that dubnyk contract, wow. Josh harding BETTER fire his agent now.

For a guy that cant play the puck outside of his net and still lets in plenty of softies thats a lot of money. Oilers clearly want him to be their #1 of the future and he had better be or this is the fattest paycheque he'll ever see.

Thankfully only two years if he flops.

Yeah I think Dubey should of been paid a bit less 2.7 would of been fair, but then again, he's out playing the Bulin wall and many other goaltenders, He's giant in the net too, so that should help him in his travels, heres to hoping he earns it.

Hopefully Dubnyk lives up to his cap hit.

Petry will outperform his.

Well thankfully for the Oilers that contract will come off the books when Hemsky's, Smyth's, and Horcoff's do, before having to resign the kids. Given the Oilers cap situation 3.5 isn't the end of the world but in a vacuum that's terrible value for what Dubnyk brings, imo.

If DD continues his .920sv% from last season, then $3.5 mil is a steal.
If he doesn't, well then Tambo looks like a fool giving that much to an unproven goalie.

All I can say, is at $3.5 mil, DD better get 65 starts this season!

Meh it evens out. If Petry had gotten 3 M and Dubney had gotten 2.25 M.

Though we all know Petry is worth closer to 8 M, he's a no1 dman after all.

Yeah but Harding signed on to be a back-up for at least one yr likely, Dubnyk signed up for a no1, or so they're hoping.

I agree, I kinda wish the oil would bury Khabbi's contract, or offer him a goaltending coach position and let one of the highly touted kids play behind Dubey, or even a gerber or denis, khabbi kinda seems like a cancer to me.

At worst, keep Khabbi and give him 17 games like you said.

Maybe Petry isn't worth what you guys think he is, his agent and Tambo obviously don't think he's worth more than that.

Wait, what? I thought the Dubnyk number was the total value. $3.5m a year is an insane overpay. Holy crap, I'm almost speechless.

Absolute steal for Petry. Don't mind Dubnyks deal. The way he played the second half of the year he earned that kind of contract.

Damn, I would have loved it if they signed Petry for a longer term at that salary.

He's about a 3mil defenseman the way he's played, he's a 1st pairing potential. I know you're trying to trash him a little bit, but have you seen him play, he's very poised.

No it's not. He could have gotten 3M and no one would be complaining.

So since Petry got so little doesn't that mean he's a bottom pairing defensemen? :

Cap space and cash flow isn't an issue for Edmonton for the two years this contract covers, and gives Dubnyk a vote of confidence that management probably hopes will translate into consistent play. Therefore, for the Oilers this isn't a bad contract.
