why all the whining about JVR center or winger....I am telling you guys, Randy said that now because he has to think IF Burke doesnt get a center...Burke gets 1 the tune is going to change...and like I said unless of course we trade Bozak and Grabo in the off season and only get 1 center back then yes they will test JVR out in that role IF not and Burke lands the #1 center then JVR stays on the wing

If JVR fails then we can search for other options in the year.

Id love Getzlaf but I don't see him as resigning with the ducks and burke has set up that we have A LOT of room next year... coincidence?
Well plenty of players fail too - Leino and Kessel. So what.

Sure I would love Getzlaf but if that is your plan than stick with Connolly or Bozak and get Getz next year.

I havent seen that post but I know the first time JVR was moved to the wing was internationally when he and Colin Wilson played together on the top line... Both at the u18s and world jrs

I was at that Tournament and saw every game.

JVR never player C, he was a winger on the topline.

JVR-Wilson-Schroeder

JVR: I havenít played center for a really long time. That was indeed the first time since I was a peewee. It needed some adjustments to get used to.

This was the summer of his draft, so he was definitely drafted as a winger, not a centre.

Goal is to try JVR at center if he fails (and I mean a real try) not some here's 5 games bull ****.

Also our team was top of the east (short lived) last year... they didn't drop because they didn't have a number 1 center they dropped because they were inept with defensive coverage leading to our goalies being lit up... and RW being an idiot and swapping goalies with ought letting them get into a groove by playing a few games.

Hahaha. JVR-Wilson-Kessel would be a version of that US WJ like that I posted on steroids.

I like Wilson, I'm not sure he's the answer to our woes, but certainly a guy we could inquire on.

He's safe in the sense that hes already shown he's a decent NHL calibre winger, maybe not a topline C but of course he's still young.

Hard to gauge what Nsh would even want, Mac, Franson back, maybe a prospect like Colborne or Blacker? I actually have no idea what his value would be

They might be able to use a defender.

Considering there is an apparent feud between Wilson and Trotz, maybe they'd be willing to just replace him with a usable asset?

Franson and 3rd.?

Are you sure? I was at every game too and I remember him down the middle, unless they were just all over the ice.

Whatever he was playing, he was massive and could play

Highly doubt Nashville would ask for him back.

I'd do Liles, Komisarek, Holzer, Franson, Blacker, Percy or Granberg, Nashville's choice. I wouldn't do Phaneuf, Gunnarsson or Gardiner.

Real sure.

But I wouldn't doubt he played some shifts here and there, maybe on the PP.

Either way you're right, he dominated that tournament, was Fantastic for a US team that really didn't have a ton of talent outside of that top line.

I don't know if you were at the US-Can game on NYE, but the one thing I remember is that JVR was one of the only US guys who kept bringing it when the tide started to turn and we started to pound them.

No doubt he was keyed in on as well, he got abused whenever there was a scrum. At the time I loved it

Sounds like a bad idea to me; JvR scores all his goals by being a workhorse along the boards.

I doubt Carlyle is speaking to Burke through the media like that.

If he starts at Centre during Camp, does he have to play the Season there if it's not working out?

Is Colin Wilson true #1 material or just a #2 that can give us some first line minutes?

Well he's what, 22? Career high 35 points. But that's playing in Nashville's defence first system, mostly on the 2nd/3rd lines I believe. And he definitely wasn't playing with any PPG linemates or anything like that.

So how would he look playing next to a guy like Kessel in a more offensive minded system? Hard to say, but you'd have to assume there'd be a decent jump. I don't think he's #1 material though, but probably #2, though he has yet to show it (either because he's not #2 material or he hasn't been given enough opportunity, I don't know).
