lol, it actually is pretty funny. if you go back to the posts before the numbers were announced with was almost exactly this, every one was saying Petry will get 3+ mill plus and no one had Dubnyk over 2 mill.

Great deal for the Oilers.

Short-term, great money, and he's still RFA when it's finished. Total win here.

Lol, it's a steal because I think Petry is worth more. I like the signing a lot. Like others have said, in two years we will know what kind of player he is. If he pans out to be what we were hoping for, lock him up.

I admit that I am no expert scout, but it's been a pleasure to watch his progression this season

Dubnyk better be giving Petry a $500K wedding present.

You said the magic words "I think Petry is worth more"..........obviously, you are a Petry fan but just because you are a fan does not mean the Oilers should gave him more money!

I am a Petry fan and an Oiler fan and believe players should be compensated fairly too!

But when you are almost doubling a players salary for the first year of playing regularly I think the salary is fair...........I hope Petry continues to progress and make what Ryan Suter got yesterday!

As opposed to the Dubnyk deal, this is a good one. Good term and caphit and i believe that he's still an RFA after this deal so that's another bonus.

Petry really only has 1/2 a season of good play. This contract has the potential to be a steal for the Oilers, but still to early to say.

Petry is making the same money as Andy Sutton...

He should get a new agent.

Heh....I do that all the time too. I use it as a device to consstitute a long pause....sorta like I'm thinking or something. Punctuation be damned on the Interwebs!

how refreshing..

a professional that doesn't ask for the moon, with confidence in his future, helps the TEAM on the ice and on the books

watch him get top minutes and hang 40 this year

it's all in the plan

With over 5000 dots in his posts maybe he should be concentrating on proper punctuation rather than dots.

We are paying 1.75M for a WHC player. Not too bad.

Really like this deal. Good term and good money. I was worried he might've gotten 9mil over 3.

I didn't watch many of the Oilers games last year, but it seemed like Petry was very physical in the World Hockey Championship games I caught.
