Although I have not been impressed with Halak's tenure with the Blues this season or even last season, I still have faith that Halak is a big time playoff performer. It sucks that he got injured during our San Jose series because I saw what he did in Montreal. I think he has the potential to be hockey's very own version of David Freese: Respectable, above-average player during the regular season, but game changing god-like potential during the playoffs…We'll just have to wait and see!
Having Johansen would be great but he just got sent down to the A, 2 assists in 10 games...I'd look for someone who can help immediately.
Won't get much love here and I doubt it will happen anyway but which center would you guys think we could get for Perron? Straight up or with a small add, a 2nd or Dags or anything like that...
Stl - Schwartz for CBJ - Johansen straight up? possibly throw in a McRae or a goalie on our side and Cody Golubef on CBJs side. They need offense. We could use some young depth on defense from the right side

I don't see any trades with a division foe, even though we did a Russel for Nikitin swap last year with CBJ, just saying...

don't think they would reverse that trade....do you? ha ha I don't see Columbus making a deal with us either, but we could help each other out. I don't think Columbus makes that deal unless we throw in something else. We need a center in the worst way though. Schwartz at this point may be our best trade bait from a strength to get a decent center.
If I were a GM trading within the division would scare me abit but trading high-end potential to a rival would be a no-go.
But, as I already posted, we are all win-now. No need to trade for a prospect. And If the Jackets need offense now I guess Jaden wouldn't be their 1st choice either.
We may not be in the same division as Columbus for very long.
BTW, I was a big fan of Ryan Johansen at the 2010 draft. Unfortunately he just has not shown anything this year in the NHL. I really thought playing 30+ games in the AHL to start this year would be very beneficial for him.
Hopefully he can find his game in the AHL again, bulk up this summer, and come back as a good top 6 center.
I'd hate to see another high 1st round pick bust for the Blue Jackets.
If I was the Blue Jackets, I'd be wanting a lot more than just Schwartz coming back in a deal for Ryan Johansen. I'd love to get him, but I can't see any reason the Jackets would consider moving him just now. He still projects to be at least a very good second line centre.

I agree. Maybe Schwartz and Jake Allen/Binnington for Johansen and defensive prospect in the AHL. They lack a 3rd goalie possibility.

I think a move like Perron for Pavelski would be great, we might have to add a minor peice like Dags or a 2nd/3rd or something

That wouldn't do it. Maybe they consider Schwartz, Rattie & Binnington if they look like getting a great pick this year. However, at that point it makes less sense for us.
Teams just don't trade big, talented centres with his kind of upside at 20. When Nick Bjugstad is close to untouchable in the Panthers organisation, safe to say that it is true for Ryan Johansen as well.
Also on that point, if Lehtera continues to play well, the Blues will (wink-wink) let him know there's opportunity at the NHL level...
To me, this sounds like they make a decision this summer. Wink-wink him a regular NHL spot or they fill the spot in another direction (free agency, trade). In the meantime, we have to hope neither Berglund nor Backes gets hurt because center is such a hodgepodge otherwise.
I have thrown his name out before because I think he would be great for the blues but as far as centers are concerned what do you guys think about Colin Wilson? Big body down the middle I think he could do well especially in our system with some of our talented wingers. Depending which way nashville decides to go this offseason maybe we could work something out then.
possibly trade for getzlaf at the deadline if anaheim isn't still miraculously winning there division? not sure what kind of contract he would be asking for at the end of the season but i'm guessing with us needing to sign petro, shatty, bergie etc... we probs wouldn't be able to sign him so i should just shut up

Getzlaf would cost to much to trade for because I don't see us being able to offer up the money to resign him in the off season. I wouldn't be willing to trade the assets for him just as a rental.
