Danault had 3A tonight in a 4-3 loss.
Whitney let 4 of 34 shots in.

Teravainen looks bigger than when he was at Prospect camp in July.

Carruth played his first game of the season with the Winterhawks last night and had a 26 save shutout over Sasktatoon, the 5th of his career in the W.

Hogs have released their opening night roster.

Quote:
Rockford, Ill.- In a little over two days, the Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League and proud affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, will hit the ice to open the 2012-13 season. On Thursday, the team released their opening night roster.

The Hogs begin the ‘12-13 regular season on Saturday with a trip to the Allstate Arena for the first of back-to-back contests against the Chicago Wolves. The puck hits the ice at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

Of the 26 players listed on the IceHogs roster, 81% have worn an IceHogs sweater in the past. The lineup features only five new faces, starting with veteran defenseman and 2008 Stanley Cup Champion Brett Lebda, along with fellow blueliners Adam Clendening and Klas Dahlbeck, and forwards Marcus Kruger and Brandon Saad.

Ten of Rockford’s skaters donned a Blackhawks sweater during the 2011-12 campaign.

Center Martin St. Pierre returns to Rockford after skating with the IceHogs during the 2007-08 season. St. Pierre’s 64 points ranked 10th in the AHL in scoring during 2011-12, and his 53 assists were third best in the league.

After appearing in all 82 games with the Blackhawks last season, defenseman Nick Leddy returns to Rockford, where he skated in 22 tilts in 2010-11.

The full roster is set at 26 skaters, including 15 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

Listed below is the IceHogs Opening Day Roster:

Forwards (15): Kyle Beach, Brandon Bollig, Wade Brookbank, Rob Flick, Jimmy Hayes, Marcus Kruger, Peter LeBlanc, Jeremy Morin, Philippe Paradis, Brandon Pirri, Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw, Ben Smith, Martin St. Pierre and Brandon Svendsen.

Defensemen (9): Adam Clendening, Klas Dahlbeck, Shawn Lalonde, Joe Lavin, Brett Lebda, Nick Leddy, Dylan Olsen, Ryan Stanton and Ben Youds.

Goaltenders (2): Carter Hutton and Alec Richards.

That lineup is awful.

TT would get killed playing 3rd line role , Beach has yet to show himself a good AHL player let alone an NHL player (Also likely at end of his time with Hawks if he doesn't)

Danault is not a fit for 4th line IMO and McNeill is a C naturally so moving him to RW makes no sense

yeah, no kidding....from what i have been able to see of Teuvo, I cannot imagine my functioning in the NHL outside a top 6 role.

re: danault - hard to say...my criticism prior to this year is he simply had to score more. he's doing that...and i think at this point he's a lock for wjc. i agree w/ you he's not great on the 4th line...but our top 6 is getting over crowded prospect-wise.

re: mcneill...i could see him more at lw than rw. yes, he's a c...but he's better than 4c...and if you're going to limit him to c...then we're going back to the overcrowding issue.

Why wouldn't Danault be a good fourth liner? All he does is bring energy and play hard every shift. He's defensively responsible and he can score his share of points. More than likely, when/if Danault makes this team, he'll start out as a 4th liner and work his way up the line-up.

Also, with all the centre's in the Hawks system, if they are all to make the team (obviously unlikely) you're bound to see a few of them move to wing. McNeill on the wing makes a ton of sense, as he'd be able to make a larger physical impact being involved more on the forecheck and in the corners.

Garret Ross scored a couple of goals last night, but Saginaw were beaten 8-5 by Barrie.

Richards will be the Hogs backup. Not sure if I like it this way. Simpson should win the starter spot for Toledo over Mrazek (spell?) prospect from the Wings.

~35 ECHL games should be better for his development than ~20 AHL games next season???

from what i've seen his upside is a lot more than that - if we turn him into our 4th line C i would be extremely disappointed.

i agree w/ you re McNeill

re C...ppl will have to move to wing...assume our 1C spot is filled for the foreseeable future...that leaves 3 more Cs...and quite a few people.

A lot depends on what happens w/ Bolland (i.e. what his future is w/ the team).

Mrazek is a pretty freaking good goalie prospect, I'm not sure Simps will have the #1 role in Toledo.

Mrazek absolutely stood on his head in the WJC last year.

Simpson should be in the AHL, with Richards backing up in ECHL. Split the games between Hutton and Simpson.

Gonna be 6 rows behind the Hogs bench Sunday. Can't wait! I'll try to get some good pics.

If Danault is playing on our 4th line (assuming he actually reaches his potential), then the rest of our squad had better be so deep that we're Cup favorites of 2002 Red Wings caliber.

On McNeill, I've heard that he's played some games for Prince Albert as a RW, so it's not a totally foreign idea.

I don't know if Simpson will start over Mrazek, but at least he'll have to work to get into the AHL. Unfortunately for the Hogs, Richards being gifted a spot is just the AHL version of the Emery-Salak debacle. Hopefully Simpson handles it better than Salak did.

Danault is going to be in the NHL far before he reaches his ceiling, if he reaches it.

Teravainen gets an assist in a 4-3 earlier today. I think that is like 4 straight games with at least a point for Teravainen.

It is funny that on this site people kept saying that Pulkkinen was struggling because of Teravainen's woes and that Teravainen was holding Pulkkinen back.... right. Since Teravainen has moved away from Pulkkinen, Teuvo has been on fire and scored like a PPG. On the other hand, Pulkkinen I think has like 1 point for the 6 games or whatever they've been split up. Yeah, Teuvo has benefited playing with I. Filppula but Pulkkinen is so overrated.

Now the stats look like this:
T. Teravainen 12 games, 3 goals, 3 assists, 6 points
T. Pulkinnen 12 games, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points

Broadhurst is playing tonight against Plymouth. I'll report back anything of interest.

Anyone else playing?

Most do...they all usually play 3 of Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun ... w/ it weighted most to Sat/Sun.

I was just too lazy to look up who else was playing (and against whom) so thought maybe someone would volunteer it.

For anyone in Canada wanting to watch a WHL game (who otherwise can't)...sportsnet's CHL coverage starts tonight...i think it's Oil Kings/Hitmen.

Dillon Fournier finally registers his 1st point in his 4th game. Scores a goal and is a +3 with 8 minutes left in 3rd period.

Garrett Ross having a great game... 2 goals, 1 assist, 3 points and still 5 minutes left in the 2nd period.

9 games, 7 goals, 7 assists, 14 points, 22 PIMs, +3

He is a '92 but still very solid. Could be a good 3rd/4th liner.

I like how Broadhurst keeps racking up points in London and the posters who watch him say "Meh, he was just okay."

I'm not saying they're wrong, just that it's funny. Not what you'd expect.
