This is why Shereo is regarded as a top GM in the league, Howson... not so much.

Perhaps but he still has a no trade clause.

I have many times. It can get downright hideous. I just don't see Rick Nash as the type of person to do that.

Believe me, we burned 10 pages of our Offseason Thread on the 'Canes board debating Nash vs. Semin.

But nobody was willing to pay it last deadline either. That's no guarantee

Is this random adding of unneeded letters in retaliation to hundreds of pages of Stephan or what?

Well, while that might prove to be true, well have to see if the 3 high salary teams on his list can fit that contract in at the deadline. And this is assuming they dont all move on from Nash and upgrade elsewhere.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same debate on the boards of the other teams that are interested in Nash

I don't see him as that type either, but if you are that unhappy with a situation you will find a way to your views come to light of the front office ... doesn't have to hit the front pages, we might never know about it. Heck for all you know, Nash might be telling Howson something along the line of "I signed a NMC for a reason, move me to either A or B and let's get it over with" ... and obviously since Howson knows he is in a corner he needs to do whatever he can to create a market ... say he will keep him, talk to other teams, ask for the moon, etc.

Remember part of being a GM is getting the best bang for the buck with the factors you are handed and this Nash situation is like Howson playing 6, 3 off suit while the other guy has pocket aces. He is really going to have to bluff the hell out of his competition to get a lot back.

No reason Philly needs him. They have so much offensive depth its sick. What you guys need is Bryz to play like a top notch goalie, and your defense to actually try.

Nash isn'tthe kind of player that will play like crap until he starts to resemble a player that plays like he wants out.

It's odd how quickly these things change.

If he's looking for an out, and HE believes that teh Rangers made a legit and bonafide offer, then he will not be a happy camper and his play will reflect that.

Will he purposely fudge things up? No. I don't see him doing that, but playing when his heart and head is elsewhere? That shows up each and every game.

While no one expects that Nash will tank, I don't think that he will be doing it on purpose. Playing in a situation you want to seperate yourslf from never leads to anything good.

In a perfect world, Nash would command a young talented roster player plus a talented prospect and a pick. There is no way he is going to get that. But Howson doesn't have to settle for the second best Rangers'.
2nd best Rangers would be best Blue Jackets.

BJ's don't have a single forward amateur prospect who ranks ahead of Miller and Thomas.

The Rangers (finally) know how to draft and develop forwards. Columbus doesn't, especially under Howson.

Dubinsky is a 1st line LW on Columbus if Nash leaves. He was a 1st line LW/C in 2011 on a playoff team.

Wow, I never tried to argue with you in the first place. I was quoting someone else and you got into it with me.

And this was just kidding about you writing Shereo instead of the correct Shero.

I even put a to tip you off.

You can't take what a GM says at face value. Negotiations have been ongoing for months between the two. If mediocre 2nd liners and adequate prospects were all that is on the table, Howson would have blocked Sather's number a long time ago.
+1....

Dubinsky over RJ Umberger, Nick Foligno, and Vinny Prospal? In what universe?

Johannsen and Atkinson are better.
Especially Johanssen (yes I know he played in CBUS but he's like 19).

Please

Dubinsky is as good as Umberger

Better than Foligno

And at this stage of his career, Prospal? really? REALLY? really?

The universe where Dubinsky has a career year and the others have their worst year.

Don't you know this by now.

He did say amateurs. However, I would take TJ Tynan over Christian Thomas any day of the week.

Cam Atkinson. 8.0 D according to this website.

If that is true, then why would Columbus want prospects in the first place?

And outside of that 1 year, Dubinsky has been a 40 pt player.

If you want to value Dubinsky according to his best season, than am I not allowed to value Dubinsky by his worst (and most reason) season?

Johansen... WILL be better. He had like 23 points last year. Tad bit early to say he's going to step it all the way up to 50+.
