They both sit in the same exact place. The left Point. Only thing is Semin goes down closer to the left circle, while Kovy stays up high. Kovy should be positioned where Semin normally is on a PP

Semin does not play the point so if anything it would not effect Kovy. Idc who is on that left circle if its Kovy or Semin and guess what I would love to have this conversation in November cause that is a great problem to have Kovy on the left circle , or Semin? lol

the point is that the strategy when you have a high threat scorer on the pp is to overload whichever side they aren't on and try to get the defense to abandon them in order to cover your 4 guys on the other side. either kovy or semin (probably semin) would have to play on the other side, which would make that player less of a threat.

but that is a good problem to have, if everything ends up working out that way.

I remember second grade and forming cliques. Guess that's now too
So Lou and Zach conspired to make up the idea that a competitive contract was offered, but in reality nothing occurred, all to hide the fact that we couldn't afford him?! What would be Zach's motivation to go along with this farce?

Quite the conspiracy theory - it's absolutely preposterous. I can't take anyone who believes such claptrap seriously.

Parise said he rejected several shorter offers than the deal he accepted.

I wanted long-term, he said. A couple of teams offered 7-8 years, but that would put me at an awkward age (34-35) when it was over. NY Times

34 isnt a bad age if the 35+ rule remains in the CBA.

What GM offered him an 8yr deal? Thats terrible

"We should call these Wild the North Stars, shouldn't we?'' he said. "I remember our team being a bunch of guys who were happy to be there. There was no jealousy. Money was never an issue because we never made any. Now it's kind of changed. It's, 'After me, you're first.' JP Parise

What's positive for us is that Matt Carle got a 6 year deal worth 5.5M$. If I'm Lou and someone comes calling for Andy Greene or Tallinder, they better realise that they're getting bargains in terms of contract. If someone calls for Volchenkov, you move that contract, and possibly something else, and gain a much needed forward.

I'm not saying that Greene will get us Datsyuk but a team looking for defense, who struck out on Suter and don't want to pay threw the teeth for a top guy like Suter, we are a very solid trading partner cause IMO we have solid assets to move.

Maybe Lou is waiting for the market to start rolling again, so he can use that card, who knows. We can help Pittsburgh for Malkin

I think there is a Semin joke somewhere in your comment. Might should have used another phrase than knock off.

Okay, we will stop.

And yes, I'm aware he has a NTC but if a team like Detroit comes calling, I don't see why he'd be offended to play for that organisation. It's us, in the west.

he's right. kovy disrupted our team's culture and our traditional values. not because of his contract, mind you. its because he didn't hit enough. I mean, come on kovy. you're ruining our tradition of getting bounced in the first round- start killing mothereffers!!!!

You know the Devils offered a front loaded contact?

And 8 years would literally be half of the Kovalchuk contact for your captain.

Minnesota is paying Parise in 2 years what he would be paid in 4 or 5 elsewhere.

Yes because every retirement contract is frontloaded to allow the drop off at the end to be steeper.

8 years for 27 year old is a retirement contract? Don't tell Elias that.

That is irrelevant though it is fairly obvious the Devils definition of "competitive" wasn't.
