Would be a much more "team friendly" deal if it happened, let's put it that way.
Haha where do you get your particular figures man? 77 cents on the dollar! I'm pretty bad with Math, and this market value stuff.

I personally think it would cost us $6.5 a year cap hit for Semin. I'm willing to go right under $7. I would consider $7 if it were a short deal. How about $27 million for 4 years? That's a cap hit of $6.75. That would be a good deal. Mario, and his printing press will be hard at work to get above that though.

With you saying Parise just set the market I wouldn't be surprised though if he got a $7.5 million cap hit for 7 years. Or somewhere around $50 million for 7 years.

If he goes into a slump we should all bring blacklights to the arena ....because that is how you find Alexander.

I could see someone playing that, just not us. In this case, playing with Kovy and "chance to win" might (just might) trump going to bottom feeder for top dollar.

But I could easily see one of the same upper echelon teams in Parise chase -- Pens, Hawks, Red Wings -- going 7/50 and knocking us out of it.

If on 1.2.2010. someone said here that in 2,5 years time we would be trying to complete ZZPops transformation to Kovy-Zajac-Semin, while drafting Matteau in first round. - wouldn't he got "of course, 2012. and the world is comming to an end" and maybe a facepalm in return ...

Disagree! This thread sucks until we actually have Semin signed!

Again I really try not to use a double meaning here, but it just forms out like that.

At that time I would have kicked Jamie, and Zach in their ***** out of here for Kovy, and Semin. Jamie was starting to decline, and as much as I didn't like Semin last year I think I would have in most years put Semin ahead of Parise.

This thread is so confusing haha. I don't know what to expect when I read a post saying ''Semin is not coming'' at this point. Don't know if it's another joke or what.

I'm afraid to front load any contract for fear of losing a pick. Of course, nothing happening with the obvious artificial years tacked on to the end of the Parise/Suter deals even though they closely mirror the deals that Bloch specifically identified as circumvention.

Well I always prefer the back load. It gives me something to look forward to at the end.

And in our financial situation giving it to him in the end would probably be most beneficial.

Also a big proponent of the back load, it'll keep him motivated so Semin can't blow his load all at once. That would be disastrous at the start of a lengthy contract.

Just short recap of how things seem to work.
Lou signs Kovy, coming from several consecutive 40-50 goal seasons, pays him $12M for first 2 years. Gets trashed around the league. Devils predicted to fail miserably for eternity.
Wild sign Zach coming from several 30-40 goal seasons, acompanied with one on LITR, paying him $24M in first two years, and his BFF along the way. High-fives aroun the league. Contenders.

Please.

His name is actually Syomin and not Semin. They spell it totally different in Russia.
