Let's just do Clowe + Murray for Stafford + Leopold and call it a day Sabres fans.

Foligno - Grigorenko - Ott

The way I look at it though is that Buffalo's oldest forward is Matt Ellis, and the ownership realizes that this is a young team that needs to grow together - not add older pieces that may only have 3-4 years left in them.

Feel free to disagree, it just makes sense to me.

I'd consider it, but I liked the one trade the majority agreed on: Clowe+Murray for Stafford+Leopold
No kidding but that's way too much. The trade you mentioned that everyone agreed with makes much more sense.

Sekera is so underrated. Such a solid dman. He'll be this team's #2 in short order.

As for the OP, it's simply too much. Maybe get a nice pick coming back and it starts to get a bit more fair.

Please don't assume everyone is a homer who can't judge value. The Sabres are getting bent here.

- Marleau

To San Jose:

- Stafford
- McNabb
- Adam
- 1st

I'm sure you would. Sabres say no 11 times out of 10.

Can we get another forward instead of Leopold?

Luke Adam? Needs to work on his skating, but he found some success in the NHL early last season. Buffalo would probably push to include a small cap dump/depth defenseman then, like Pardy, though.

Of course, how does Ville Leino sound?

But for real, a guy like Gerbe or Tropp could probably go the other way and we just trade Leo for a draft pick.

Doubtful unless we move Leopold elsewhere first. Sabres already have Myers, Ehrhoff, Regehr, Sekera, Sulzer, Weber, Pardy, and McNabb who is NHL ready. Brennan is in some eyes as well. If we keep Leopold and add Murray, we'd have 10-11 defensemen with only McNabb and Brennan potentially going to the AHL. We could bury Pardy, but even still we'd have too many guys.

- Cap hits are about equal.

- Buffalo gets a vet player that can play center or wing.

- Sharks get a top 6 winger, a top 4 D-Man with top pairing potential, and a quality prospect that projects to either a 3rd line C or 2nd line winger.
3 yrs of Stafford, 3 years of Sekera, and 4 years of Adam... for 2 years of Marleau at 33 and 34 yrs old???

nice try...

Sekera can't be traded so lightly. He's a great young Dman on a sweetheart contract that just had an awesome season. When Regehr and Leopold's contracts expire after this season we are going to need him more than ever. I'm willing to trade him under certain circumstances but Marleau just isn't one of them.

If you look through the board at Sabres proposals, you'll probably notice that no fanbase underrates their own players more often than Buffalo. You could probably find a few that would trade Vanek for a pair 3rd liners straight up.

Vanek for Pavelski and Clowe ?
Vanek for Dubinsky and Boyle?

DONE!

Unlike San Jose... we want to get rid of our turd core, not try to win with them for another 2 years

imho, we already got rid of the turds. Vanek is a very good hockey player. Is Rick Nash a bad player because he hasn't led Columbus to anything? Joe Thornton for not winning a cup yet with SJS? No. And neither are Pominville or Vanek. They and Miller are the pieces of the old core I'd be happy to hang onto, at least for the time being.
Agree to disagree, I guess.
PS: Dubi + Boyle << Pavelski + Clowe. I'm not sure why you think those are similar packages.

I'm all about the Vanek for Pavelski + Clowe trade... can add other parts to the deal to make it work. Adam, works. Marleu-Thornton-Vanek would be a bad ass MOFO line.

I wouldn't be against trading for Marleau but wouldn't give up very much to do it. Stafford + Adam maybe but no way in hell would I give up Sekera.

Regier wants to get bigger and add more jam up the middle.

How does trading for Marleau accomplish that?

Patrick Marleau is 6'2, 220. He might not play to his weight, but he isn't small.

Not sure what more jam up the middle means. If you mean jam like sticky, then maybe Marleau isn't your best bet. If you mean jam like fast, then Patty is your guy.

If you mean jam like he has a sense a rhythm, then your screwed. Sharks haven't had a guy with rhythm since Mike Grier.

Dear everyone making Sabres proposals,

Stop putting Sekera in deals that don't return a shutdown defenseman.

Sincerely,
People who understand his value
