Alexander Semin

Not a lot of talk about where Semin might end up on July 1st.

He has a great shot and can potentially become a 30-40 scorer again with a change of scenery.

Where will he end up?

I think he's a lock to Detroit, if not it's the KHL.

I am a Wings fan, but the only team i see him signing with he if he doesnt join the KHL is the Wings. I am not sure if i want him on the Wings though. For less than 5 million, i would have no problem signing him. I would rather the Wings wait and see if they can get Parise though.

I agree, though SJ or Boston should not be counted out.

Semin has Montreal written all over him.

I feel pretty confident when i say the Flames will be giving a nice offer to Alex Semin, He fits Feasters plan very well and Fills a giant hole at the second line RW. I can see the flames offering 6 million for 2 years.

Yeah he is a perfect fit...not only doesn't he speak french, he doesn't even speak english

Semin will ask for more cash than the Habs would be willing to offer IMO. For Semin it is Detroit or KHL IMO. If he goes Detroit, I could see him winning the Cup before Ovi or Kovi do.

I always laugh at these threads.

First it was, if he's not with Wash he will go to the KHL. Now it is the same with the Wings.

A lot seems to be known about a guy's intentions who never does interviews.

I think Semin will end up in Detroit, signing a deal at around 5m per year. He had some chemistry going with Dats at the WC, so maybe Holland will try to grab him.

That's too funny on the English thing.

I think he fits Detroit but Im not sure what the Wings interest will be. He has played very well with Datsyuk and maybe it is the perfect fit. Who knows.

Fair point. But there are also assumptions one can make. Semin will likely ask for 4-5 million. Since short term contracts seem a thing for 35+ guys nowadays, you can expect him to want at least 4 years. There have been questions about his work ethic for years now. Add to that that the guy doesn't do any interviews, so he can't help your franchise in the PR department.

Considering all this, how many NHL Franchises do you see lining up for that package?

KHL is only an option if no teams want you or they want you, but you play on the 3rd line. of which Semin is none of those.

You really think every team with space is willing to spend ~20 million on lazy russian guy? Any team that is not Detroit considering Semin should let go of their GM. I can only see Detroit being able to have Semin maximize his potential. And I am not exactly a Red Wings nuthugger.

Feaster will be looking to make a splash come July, 1st. I could see him offering Semin more than any other team out there to acquire his services (ie. 3 years, 6 million per)

As Habs' fan, I have enough of bad experiences with Russian player. I hope we are not making offer to Semin. For anyone who hope to sign Semin for less than 5 mil, dream on.

He wants to play with star Russian center. Only two teams have those. Pittsburgh don't have the cap space so only choise left will be Detroit.
