For Getzlaf
I was talking to a friend who's a ducks fan about this idea, tell me what you think...
Getzlaf for Grabovski, MacArthur, Bozak, Colborne
Before... (Did my best guess, don't watch much Ducks hockey)
DSP - Getzlaf - Perry
Ryan - Holland - Palmieri
Cogliano - Koivu - Selanne
Beleskey - Bonino - Staubitz
Beauchemin - Fowler
Allen - Sbisa
Souray - Lydman
Hiller
Fasth
After....
MacArthur - Grabovski - Perry
Ryan - Bozak - Palmieri
DSP - Holland - Selanne
Beleskey - Koivu - Cogliano
Beauchemin - Fowler
Allen - Sbisa
Souray - Lydman
Hiller
Fasth
With Colborne in the AHL for now.
I think you guys become a much deeper team, your new 3rd line would be alomst as good as your former 2nd line.

#2 center, #3 center, #2/#3 winger, potential #2/#3 center
The only part of the package that is interesting is Grabovski IMO, and even then if we were after Grabovski we wouldn't be trading our #1 center as we are looking for someone to sit on the second line behind Getz, which in turn means Toronto can't do a deal due to their lack of center depth.
We're just bad trading partners.

I knew before I opened the thread that it would a Leafs proposal.
They're the only ones that can't seem to grasp the concept that Getzlaf isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, with our center depth (or rather the lack thereof), Getzlaf appearing a relatively good bet to re-sign here at some point, we don't have a Bobby Ryan-like situation in which there are deals that will get a positive feedback. There's no point in trading him right now, unless he came straight out to Murray and said he wouldn't re-sign, and even then, things would likely drag out.
There's going to be very close to zero posts that even accept the concept of trading him before we get to trading deadline in February/March '13. Before that, it's never going to be fun. Even when other fans throw in names a lot bigger than the Grabovskis, MacArthurs and Bozaks of the world.

I like the lineup you posted that includes Getzlaf more.
It's a no-go.

If Getzlaf is traded, Perry is probably a sure thing to leave next summer as well...

Pretty much. That's another thing to consider. We're left with Bobby Ryan mentoring Etem, Palmieri, and Holland and hoping they're the future.

This would never happen ever, but would the Pens say no immediately to Geno for Ryan and Getzlaf?

Depends on whether Malkin will take a Crosby contract or if he wants max contract. Getzlaf + Ryan for 13M >> Malkin for 13M.
Their fans would want Perry too, but their management would likely do it in that scenario.

I think we need to add Perry to the mix to make this more fair and maybe throw in next years 1st as well.

Not sure if that will do it. Grabovski, MacArthur, Bozak, Colborne are all easily top line prospects who can chip in 100+ points, so i think we should throw in LeBron James and Kobe Bryant to.

You're getting closer, add 2 seconds and we've got a deal.

Throw in the cost of skating lessons for LeBron and Kobe and I think there's something to it.
