I have no hopes of ever getting Duchene,
But How about
If I were Feaster, I'd first inquire about Duchene because well, why not? If that was a no go, then I'd counter with a similar proposal such as this. Although I've long thought that a Bouwmeester and Backlund for Statsny deal would really fair for all parties. I like your suggestion to because we would be getting a dman back, but I don't think the Avs bite.
Baerstchi MIGHT be a star AHLer but never in the NHL. Duchene would be a star in the AHL but he's nothing close to it in the NHL. And never will be.
You realize Duchene is 21 right? And has already had seasons of 55 and 67 points respectfully. Also he was heavily injured this past season, and even when he was in the lineup he was STILL injured but he was too stubborn to completely heal up. Look around the league at other young, up and coming players. Eberle didn't see action until he was 20, Giroux.. a top 10 player in the league didn't see regular action until he was 22. Duchene has the skills and mindset to become a star in this league, as does Baertschi. Only difference is Baertschi hasn't even played 10 games in the NHL yet so who knows how his game translates. If Duchene rebounds from the last, injury riddled season, and Baertschi's game translate well, then the trade wouldn't be too lopsided.. In fact I think it would help both teams out, although I'm sure there are better options out there for getting a Dman rather then trading your futre franchise player.
Its hard to say it but gotta say no..... excluding the interdivision issues and if i remember correctly calgary not east of detroit right???,,,,, but the lack of control over both stastny and jaybo in a few years ruins this deal when duchene really doesnt have an option to leave for a long time
