Conversations about Semin on other team boards have degraded into Semin not being the problem, but Ovechkins leadership.

What do we even know about the trade? Who knows who was even the center piece on the Kings side for all we know. Kings could of thought Schenn was overrated(he was) and thought Simmonds as a 30-40 guy tops and the Flyers could of though Schenn was the next great thing and Simmonds was a good depth player that embodies the Flyer's spirit.

I would hope Kuznetsov has a better rookie year than Richards had for the Kings(statistically), let alone a overall way better career.

But I know you, you are gonna bash Kuznetsov, say he isn't here for 3 years and we should of sold him off for a declining asset.

Philadelphia did more, esp. in bringing in Bryzgalov.

It's that time of year to rehash the same old arguments I guess but to me the biggest thing that's always held this team back was their lack of a mature, balanced approach. That and not building from the net out initially. It's more or less been built backwards to the point where maybe, just maybe, over time it's starting to become somewhat coherent.

Nope. Florida had the most.

there arent many on the high end. Redden, Gomez come to mind. Thats more Slats than anything.

middle tier, there are a lot. 4-6m players. Buffalo bombed last year with their group, Pitts doesnt like Martin now, Wizniewski, Cole (the first time), could argue Bryz, heck even Kovalchuk looked like a turd after year 1.

FA signing are hit and miss. I wanted to see some short term fill in the gaps players (as I written time and again). Would have loved the Parise/Suter thing, but wasnt realistic. Happy we missed some, sad we missed others.

Fail.

They haven't accomplished near enough to assume they only need minor tweaks.

I can't remember being less enthusiastic about a Caps team in
my life.

Philly traded with LA and the Kings then brought in Jeff Carter.

Looking at this offseason... every team in the Southeast made major improvements... but us.

Ribeiro for Semin was sideways.

Did I miss something, all I can say that improved was Carolina.

Tampa is a wash IMO, Salo probably will be struck by lightning and miss 60 games. People were ******** on Carle defensively.

Florida lost Garrison and Samuelsson and doesn't look like they have gotten any replacements as far as I can recall. Unless of course Huberdeau is the real deal, I think hes a little small to be the real deal, at least in his rookie year.

Winnipeg didn't do anything.

Either way, MoJo could breakout playing wing with Ribeiro for all we know.

Simmonds alone put up better stats than Richards last season. That mattered in the playoffs about as much as your posts.

Ribeiro was most effective when he played with shooters and shielded from defensive responsibilities. Here is a great idea, let's put him on a line with a half-assed winger that's afraid to shoot or take a hit. That line might not be able to break out of its own zone.

To be fair, the Caps gave them the division more than them taking it.

So your argument that LA did more than Philadelphia is that they eventually brought in the two players that Philadelphia shipped off?

Philly was definitely the biggest off-season turnover. Richards for Simmonds and Schenn. Carter for Voracek and Couturier. Signed Bryzgalov. Signed Jagr. Signed Talbot. Traded Powe. Tried to waive Betts. Named Pronger captain.

Plus caring about who won the division totally contradicts EroCaps' perspective on the Capitals.

Gandler sure does talk a lot. 3 weeks into it. Semin still hasn't signed anywhere.

Also, what's the point of telling that lie to Sovsport? Bidding war between cska Moscow and Dinamo Riga?

Sorry to intrude, but...

Winnipeg dropped Tiny Tim Stapleton and his 27 points last year and dropped 4th liner Tanner Glass and his 16 points and upgraded them with bigger and better players in Olli Jokinen (61 points) and Alexei Ponikoravsky (33 points).

The Jets got both bigger and better in the off-season.

For **** sake! Whatever you think about Semin, you have to feel kinda bad for him in this situation. Given his awkwardness and discomfort with English and with public statements, he really needs quality representation, but Gandler is such a quack.
