Yeah, I questioned why he got $2.65 a year. Half of that makes more sense, and it's one hell of a bargain.

1.325M is a total steal.

Bergevin just made up the marginal value lost by the Prust deal IMO.

Wow! Great signing by MB!
I'm relieved, I thought it was per year. This deal satisfies me.

According to Renaud Lavoie: "Lots of question on Lars Eller contract. 2 year / $2 650 000 total with the Canadiens."

on a 2 year deal, i could care less how much of a "steal" this is. Cap hit and space only matters when you think you can win a cup. Don't think the habs can contend for the cup within 2 years. A 3 year deal would have been better for me. just sayin'

Term and amount are just fine. Both are "better" than I expected, honestly. I mean, his raise only scaled 50% with the cap increase (4.X% vs 9.X%)... and for two years?

edit: forgot to highlight that I believe the term of this contract means he'll still be RFA when negotiations come around again. Good protection.

Subban + Diaz for the main club. Diaz may go to player elected arbitration

Couldn't have a Habs signing without someone complaining.

Wow. 1.325.

I would have guessed at least 400K more!

That's awesome. Hopefully Eller will be in line for a very big raise after this contract.

FORWARDS
Max Pacioretty ($1.625m) / David Desharnais ($0.850m) / Brian Gionta ($5.000m)
Rene Bourque ($3.333m) / Tomas Plekanec ($5.000m) / Erik Cole ($4.500m)
Travis Moen ($1.850m) / Lars Eller ($1.325m) / Scott Gomez ($7.357m)
Colby Armstrong ($1.000m) / Petteri Nokelainen ($0.575m) / Brandon Prust ($2.500m)
Ryan White ($0.688m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Josh Gorges ($3.900m) / Alexei Emelin ($2.000m)
Andrei Markov ($5.750m) / P.K. Subban ($3.850m)
Francis Bouillon ($1.500m) / Yannick Weber ($0.850m)
Tomas Kaberle ($4.250m) / Raphael Diaz ($1.250m)
GOALTENDERS
Carey Price ($6.500m)
Peter Budaj ($1.150m)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,602,976; BONUSES: $0
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $3,597,024

Projected on Subban and Diaz.

Too many guys, I don't think Palushaj makes any sense in the AHL at this point in time and I believe the same could be said about Geoffrion.

Hopefully there's a move or two over the Summer. I would like to see them find out who of Plekanec, Cole, and Gionta has the best trade value and trade them. Even though it'd be risky, maybe some young guys would surprise us all.

There it is.

It's not a Habs deal without someone whining.

Just sayin'

3 year deal gives Eller leverage for his last RFA contract since he'll be 1 year from UFA status.

2 year deal is way better for long-term.
