Halak is not being dealt, he is the number 1 and Berglund....he is 1 of 2 centers (Backes) on the Blues...not to mention with his size and strength I have no desire to see him go.

St.Louis would not be willing to roll Elliott out there for a full season, especially after seeing him struggle during the playoffs when it was all on him and he had no cushion to fall on. Kessel, like him, enjoy his production and play, but certain trades just don't work, no matter the worth of certain players in the deal.

How about you just give us Kessel, Phaneuf, and a 2nd..we can give you Jake Allen, Stewart, and a 2016 6th round pick /sarcasm

I honestly think toronto fans are just trolling us now. I mean there is another thread exactly 5 spots below this one filled with blues fans saying that we wil not trade halak.

But just incase I will say it one more time, there is nothing toronto can trade us that will get them halak

Adds a top 6 C with size and two-way play, a #1 goalie, and a power forward winger... We also get to dump Lombardi, though have to give up Reimer. But since we get Halak, thats not a big deal.

It would address multiple specific needs, and considering our winger depth (JVR, Kulemin, Lupul, Kadri, MacArthur, Frattin, Ashton, + Stewart) and our lack of goalie/centre depth, this trade probably helps Toronto a lot more than it helps St. Louis.

Kessel is not untouchable, if Burke could get a 2-way centre for him (Someone like Getzlaf), he would possibly trade him.

Toronto trades:
it's organizational lack of centers and reliable goaltending.

To St Louis for:
A very good Winger that we otherwise have no pressing need for.

Roughly two years ago, the blues and their fans celebrated halak's arrival for finally giving us the legitimate, reliable, proven NHL goaltender we'd been missing for more than a decade.

They're not about to package him (and Stewart, and Berglund...and a 2nd) for Phil Kessel and a bucket of parts.

Did you miss the bit where the Blues Finished in the President's cup race last year with their second highest points total ever as a franchise? When was the last time a team with that kind of record, and eyes on turning it's youth and postseason experience into a series of deep playoff runs traded it's established starting goaltender and replaced him with a less proven, shakier goaltender with zero playoff experience?

Toronto's need for a goaltender does nothing to make Halak available. Stop asking for him and expecting something to work. Halak is the Starting goaltender for the Blues, and no package of pieces you can cobble together from toronto's roster effectively improves the St Louis roster in a way that comes close to offsetting the massive hole Halak's absence would leave in our goaltending situation.

It's not that the players being offered are all garbage - they're not - there is just no compelling case to be offered that the benefit the Blues get by adding them offsets Halak's loss.

If you took the other three assets out and offered Kessel, Riemer and Lombardi for Halak alone - the blues still dont do it, Because - read this slowly and carefully - JAROSLAV HALAK IS NOT AVAILABLE.

You think maybe, just possibly, the Leafs would move Kessel for Getzlaf?

Just a chance?

Good lord.

oh god...

1) Halak is the no.1 in STL
2) By trading Berglund fo a Winger STL would create a huge hole @ the top 6 center position
3)Halak is not available

This trade absolutely makes the leafs better. Kessel is a great piece but this trade destroys the blues depth, which was the whole reason for the team's success. For the 20 millionth time, so that people know, halak can't be traded. He's our number one. Period. Plus we are far worse in the short term and the long term. Upgrading Stewart to Kessel, when we have Tarasenko coming along, leads to a massive downgrade at center and in net. Berglund isn't moving for anything short of overpayment because he is the only option we have as a second line center. And halak is so much better than Reimer it's not even funny.

Don't paint us with the same brush.

Most level headed Leaf fans hate those types of fans as much as you do.
